F-ing A man. This summer I will be in Basic and AIT for 19Delta at Ft.Knox and then my unit, 278th ACR, will be mobilizing to go to Iraq and the end of November. So if you dudes go through the "today's pics" topics happen to see a pic of a 278th PFC Zach Patton in Iraq, thats me! woot woot

When did you say your leaving MarineDEP4?

Thanks guys, it'll be a while but whenever I get over there at the end of this year I'll try and post up something. Who knows. p-)

i am going to boot on june 6th, and will be going to the school of infantry (SOI) right after. jmooch, who was in iraq, told me that i can probably expect to be put into an MEU headin for iraq after SOI. my mos is obviously infantry (SOI) so who knows really man. what's your mos going to be?

I am also in the same situation....hey DEP4 that means you will be with 1 MEF which is west coast (camp pendelton)...but who knows...

if we go i'll watch your back if you watch mine :D and oh yeah if we see merik we gotta watch his too :lol:

It seems a bit early for saying good luck and godspeed and all that. Make the most of your time before you're going. Be sure to stack up on good times so you have something to make you smile when the days seem long and dreary down there...

I see a lot of good luck's here and go get some terrorists,and kill some terrorists etc...........guys it's not that easy,they do not all wear the ski masks and the AQ T shirts,they most certainly do not jump around begging the Troops to engage them.........forget this bravado.......I'd be more inclined to say ..........do your duty,whatever it may be ,serve your country with pride,and at all times remain proffesional in every thing you do,obey orders never question them,listen to the "old sweats",and let those you serve beside know you will not let them down when the **** hits the fan.
Your going to a hostile environment where the cultures are different ,respect them,they have their beliefs as you have yours.

However........try concentrating in getting through basic 1st ;)

Er...no offense but you probably come down to earth during basic. Haven't been to Iraq but it's nothing to cheer about.

How long were you in Undo?

Just two years in the NG. Scout platoon, HQ company, 1st/112th, 49th AD.

GI bill from the USN just didn't cover all of my college expenses, so I joined the NG to suppliment.
