I thught this was a thing of the past, but it seems that some judges in Europe still see ETA as a 'Separatist group' rather than responsible for more than 800 deaths.... :(

Belgium sets free two presumed collaborators of ETA

BRUSSELS . - The presumed collaborators of terrorist band ETA Luis Moreno and Raquel Garci'a have been released without conditions, according to informed the spokeswoman of the Belgian federal Office of the public prosecutor, Lieve Pellens.

Moreno and the Garci'as, defendant of collaboration with the "Biscay commando" of ETA, were released "without conditions" towards the midnight by instructional judge Thierry Freyne, needed the spokeswoman.

Pellens indicated that "the reasons are not known for which the instruction judge has decided the liberation without conditions" and commented that the Federal Office of the public prosecutor can appeal the decision of the instructional judge.

Both presumed collaborators of ETA had been stopped Tuesday, in their address in Sint Pieters-Leeuw, near Brussels.

According to Pellens, "the Police was forced to stop to the pair due to the existence of an international mandate of halting".

The spokeswoman remembered that Spanish Justice took advantage of the new European mandate halting to return to request to Belgium the extradition of Moreno and Garci'a.

With the European order of halting that took effect the past month of January is tried to suppress the traditional and slow procedures of extradition and to replace them by a system of delivery between the judicial authorities of the different countries from the UE, on the base of the principle of mutual recognition of judicial decisions.

Moreno and the Garci'as gave at the beginning of the Nineties lodging to members of the commando "Biscay" of ETA, that later were condemned by to have assassinated a police, and they helped them to transport arms.

Belgium had granted in 1995 asylum to Moreno and Garci'a, but shortly after they were stopped by the police of this country.

In spite of to be asked for his extradition by Spain, they were set free in 1996, immediately after the Council of Belgian State considered the suspension of his extradition, which caused tensions between Madrid and Brussels.

Pad75,

In the 80's it was much worse. ETA tactics were to kill in Spain and run to France, where many of them were granted political refugee status, leaving them out of reach from Spain. This ended when Miterrand stepped out, and now France is the country that helps us most in out fight against ETA.

But other countries ( Belgium, Portugal, Netherlands) still can't get it.... I am not trying to start a discussion arround this, but I blame mainly the judiciary system of some countries of being far too 'understanding' with terrorism. Even some judges in Spain.

Well them damn southeners (french speaking is what's wrong with belgium, all they want is money from the northern people (dutch speaking). But they allways suck up to france and stuff.

Sometimes it would be much better for us if the country was split, let me give you an example, the unemployement rate is 18.5 procent in the south, while in the north it around 8%. Another example, we as a majority are forced to learn french in school, while they a minority are not forced to learn Dutch, the language of the majority.

It's all these little things that often result in this country going downhill.

There are so many regions who want more independence why can't they have it ? If the country was split that doesn't mean they will step out of the EU.

A minority explain to me then why so many people vote for the Vlaams Blok.

Why ? Because people (like you for example) are stupid and intelorant. Its simple. And yes its a minority (like all far-right movements), the majority of Belgian have NO problems with the other community. After Sixgun, now we have another neo-Nazi fascist on this forum...

You know what we should do stop all the money that flows to the south and then look what happens. Ypu wouldn't have such a big mouth then would you ...

Haha, thats hilarious. Hey retard, dont forget that the South was the motor of this country during 130 years. Its only since the 60s that the North took the relay, thanks to Walloon money.

People forget...

I have no problem with the people from southern Belgium, what I do have a problem with is that their government wastes large sums of OUR money.

The only difference between north and south is the language apart from that we are all the same. And for your information I didn't vote Vlaams Blok nor NVA, so ...

Stop calling me racist and intelorant, I see no need why you should start calling me a nazi just because I think this country would be better off if the regions had more independance. If you think that makes me a nazi, i suggest you look up what nazism is all about.

No offense, best regards

Don't forget the Flemish people were supressed for many of those 130 years too! We had to fight to recognise our language as one of the official language... And don't make me remind you what Flemish soldiers went trough in WW1...

Don't get me wrong... I have no hatred for the French speaking people in Belgium but you may not neglect the thing that happend a long time ago...

I don't really want to talk about politics, but i don't think voting for the Vlaams Blok makes you an instant racist... Some people vote for them because they want an independent Flanders (not because of hate but because it would improve the situations of both regions... Economicly, socially and culturaly...

With comments like that, the EU is destine for greatness.

I doubt that it is a minorty in Flanders that want more independence for the regions (Many may not want complete independence, but just give the Flemish goverment some more jurisdiction).

PS: I only hate 1 Walloon and that is Ministre of Defence Flahaut, especially with the Para-Commando business...

THings like this could be stopped in the future if the EU countries can agree to a counter-terrorist supervisor this week. Maybe all the countries might then be able to agree who is a terrorist and who is not.

Hopefully,
