I'm posting this in the best suitable forum, hope maybe someone can help me.

In the house of my grandparents we found an old bakelite box, with bits and pieces in it;

It looked like a replacement set for something to do with lighting, maybe an old camera, or something like that.

When I was holding it, I felt something on the side, I thought it might be some letters. This is what I saw;

Send a chill down my spine that's for sure. The box has a baseplate to mount it on something. Does anyone have a clue? Or a link to a place where they might know something about this? Thanks.

I just searched "WaA387" and I found this;

WaA387 ewx F. u. K. Voegels Köln 1936, 38, 39
WaA387 Karl Barth 1937
WaA387 eqf Karl Böcker Waldbröhl, Rhld. 1936
WaA387 G. Genschow Berlin 1936 - 37

So it's made in one of those places I guess.

What does the writing on the white square say ?

It's the content list. Some words are;

Burner, rubber closure, light, lightholder

I'm thinking one of those magnesium lights they used to hold up next to old camera's, no? With the handle and plate on the right?

According to that sheet, it's spare parts for the Einheitslaterne 37, a carbide lamp.

Yep, similar principle.
I only found a single pic of a Einheitslaterne with google.
The WWII originals were grey:

Slightly modified, it was still in use when I was in the Bundeswehr.
Also used by railroad personel

I found this on Google, looks like a modern version of the lantern, it's even called the "Nummer 37", so it's the probably similar to the one you found.
