Soldier of Fortune is like Hustler. Only dirtier. Military **** on a low level.

It was way better in the early 80's.

Got to agree I used to get sent copies of SF in the 80's and they were chock full of technical stuff, I started buying it again in the middle 90's and it was all Waco and hate the ATF stuff got a bit sick of it, Combat and Survival does have good technical articles.

The italian edition of Raid now sucks! It's a good magazine in the '90, even if it contained too many typos and other errors. Now it's simply an italian army "house organ".

I read, no regulary, RID (Rivista Italiana Difesa), a sort of Jane's Montly and I was subscriber to Air Force Montly for many years.

I have read SOF in the past but it's very expensive to buy in Italy and it contain too many advertisements.

I like Special Ops Journal, but many in this forum say that it only publish the discarded photos of the french Raid.

COMBAT, Japanese military magazine covers everything from Airsoft and Paintball to JGSDF exercises and LAPD Kimbers. Ichiro Nagata takes a lot of their photos, in the copy that I've got (COMBAT 11 2003) it has all his Heckler & Koch promo' shots for 2004, all nice and glossy as well.

well, apparently, I am not the only RAIDS reader here.... :D

There is also a spanish version of RAIDS which is of course very spanish army oriented but has some good articles on little known spanish units.

Iheard the english version was stopped because they had distribution problems in the UK; it must be the same thing for the US, a small magazine like that can't afford to be represented that far away.

I used to enjoy RAIDs when it was published in English. It used to have very good coverage of new stuff and excellent photos, but they stopped publishing in English so it was less interesting to me and I stopped getting it. The only mags that can get away with just having nice pics are stick mags if you know what I mean...

I also like Military Technology, which is a german magazine... ( www.monch.com ) and I like Military Parade but the latter is only Russian stuff and is mostly marketting from the manufacturers themselves, but it nice to get info fromt he horses mouth rather than western estimates.

Has RAIDS got a website of any sort?.

Unfortunately no...I suppose if enough people from the English speaking world nag them by writing loads of emails to raids@histecoll.com saying they are interested in an English version, they will maybe think about it.
