Here's another German vehicle, this time West German. It was used as a paratrooper-vehicle until the late 80s, early 90s (this thing is the predecessor of the Wiesel):

He he I had one like this even the same colour 2 years ago...You know, I had the one and only connection with this very small car at the driving exam. The state-owned examination centre have got only this one tiny city cars. I'm about 2 meters tall so I've really great problem to fit in. Finally when I made it and my knees were almost around my ears, the examiner asked me a theoretical question: "So tell me, how to change a gear?". I looked at him and answered: "Move the knee, change the gear, move the knee back.". Should I add up that I passed it with flying colors? ;)

In France, we used to have the Citroën Mehari, a plastic body car witha 2 Cv engine.
The standing joke was that the first time the US soldiers saw them during joint training in Germany, they thought they were disposable cars delivered in crates and thrown away at the end of the exercise...
Here is a link with pics.
