Sometimes I wonder what would happen If the US took all its forces out of the world and brought them back home. I wonder what would happen and what Europe would do now that the US is gone. Many countries would probably be overun and Europe would be straining to try and keep the world stable. If Russia invaded Europe and the US refused to respond what do you think Europe would say to the US? Anyone have any ideas about what the rest of the world would ask of the US?

well firstly its ability to strike anywehre any time very quickly would be gone as the US would not longer be able to stirke from bases close to the middle east or any of its bases from that matter of fact.

US also would lose alot of influence since US uses the bases as part of its ifluential poking stick. example

Britain and France both have nukes and European armed forces are much bigger and better equiped then Russias, our tech is much better then Russia's. The Marshall Plan was 1 Billion to Germany and 11 to France, that was close to nothing. Just look at the exports and the difference to the imports. The german Economy looks much better than the american. USA is nothing without Europe. Your F-22 costs 3 times as much as an Eurofighter, but is it 3 times better?
America spends 3.2% of its GDP on "Defense", Germany only 1.3%.

Europe would lose little if the US did pull out as they have been downsizing in Europe for a decade so the effects of an eventual pullout would not be serious, the US would lose some of her flexibility in force projection, Italy was a major base for GW2 air operations but I still think they could manage as they are at work at this moment on technology to fill any gaps in force projection that they might experience in the future.

Second of all if you think vietnam "won" then you should get a good calculator and see how many vitcong died for each american. Once you are done repeat step 1 with Afghanistan.

But for Afghanistan, the Afghans received only a limited number of weapons from the US. No heavy weapons like tanks, combat aircraft, helicopters, etc. They beat the mighty Red Army using just AK-47s, RPGs and a few Stingers...

Their goal was to expel the Soviet Army of their country and they succeeded. So yes, its a victory...

Well Viet cong didnt receive too many t 62s either, you know. Without the intelligence, training and equipment Afghans would be hardpressed to do SQUAT with their 17th century muskets and knifes.
In other words both conflicts were more of a superpower advisors with local support vs superpower troops
