I dont know about you but this sounds like a professional hit. Fireworks during the shots, maybe silenced sniper rifles, wouding of both VP and P before anyone could react.....etc.

The fact that Chen has been an outspoken critic of Chinese policy towards Taiwan and has supported a referendum for independence makes me wonder of China sought ot have him and his VP killed in the hopes that thier successors(whoever that would be in Tawianese pollitics I dont know) would be less vocal.

Im no consiracy theorists but it all sounds suspicious to me........not to mention China having no official statement which is very odd indeed considering that China considers Taiwan part of itself and would normally issue a statement on an attempted assassination. Its almost as if China wants us to believe they did it so to further show how resolved they are to violence should Taiwanese people vote on refurendum for independence............

Just a theory. Maybe it was a crazed opium addict.

If it was a professional hit the president & vice-president would be in the morgue, not in the hospital... Anyway, the fireworks were from civilians, and in such a situation with fireworks going off a shot isn't likely to be heard anyway, so I doubt a rifle with a surpressor would be necessary. Besides, even if it WAS a rifle with a surpressor that still doesn't say much, as surpressors aren't that hard to get in some countries...

I think that we haven't many infos to judge if it was a professional attempt to kill Chen (even the pros meke mistakes), tha act of a lunatic or just a make-up for the election.

I hope that there isn't any involvement of China or the **** would hit tha fan very soon.....

Well if it was a "professional hit", I'm sure the locals will soon find a couple of unidentified bodies that show up somewhere. I doubt any government would use an employee or other person who could be directly traced back to the government for such a high-profile operation. So they'd probaby set up a project to recruit some disillusioned loser to do the shooting. As soon as his work is done - he's in the dumpster, double bagged for added freshness.
