There is broad support in Parliament to give all of those who turn 18 years old during an election year the right to vote.
Swedish youth minister Lena Hallengren has said she understands those who think the minimum voting age of 18 years old is unfair, reports Svenska Dagbladet (SvD). She was born on Christmas day and was not allowed to vote when her classmates who had turned 18 did.

I think this girl's attitude is reason enough to not let 17 year old vote.

I say we raise the minimum age to 25 in Sweden, hearing some of the "kids" talk politics makes me long for the days of the King.
"I vote for MP because of the poor spotted toad population in the Bunkeflo quarry" - Some dumb 18yr old girl

Most adults are too stupid to vote, let alone someone under 18 (not that there are some under 18 that are smart enough, problem is they are very rare).
BTW, love the avatar: "Oh expletive deleted!"

Another survey this week showed that among Swedish youths, the girls would vote left and the guys would vote right....

Yeah, I hate college kids. Actually, I dislike anyone above a middle school education.

In the United States. I find it funny that people think an individual automatically matures into an adult the moment they turn eighteen. At least eighty percent of the time they still have the same mentality they did when they were only a year younger. Congratulations you're now a year older and an "adult" you can vote, buy cigarettes, ****, and go to a strip club. You're still only eighteen years old. Of course there are exceptions to the above. People who are young and mature for their age.
deuce, deuce.

So in the U.S. that means they can't vote for who has the ability to send them off to war. I thought we solved this problem a little while ago...

When i was 18, I too thought that it would be good to raise the voting age to 21 or 22 because of all the uneducated idiots around me that were allowed to vote...
Then I turned 23 and saw that the idiots were still uneducated and still voted for the same parties for the same crappy reasons.

Yep, it does not seem age related. Deja vu, This agruement is old, 1960-70'-ish.
Well she says it is unfair 'cause she is 17, what about the 16 year old who sees their 17 year old class mates voting. Unfair too?

If your old enough to join the army your old enough to vote. I say make the voting age be whatever the age to join the army is. Better yet make military service a prereq to voting al la Starship Troopers. ;);)
