Bought my first BHI vest and got it today. Its the recon vest and a back plate carrier. Either way I use the set up..back plate carrier or no back plate carrier, the vest is extremely loose surly not the easiest to put on when you have to reach to your back and try to buckle it. BHI needs to go smart and make one with a CUMMERBUND!!! I'm not the skinniest person around (5'7 160lbs).
Next vest I do buy will surly have a cummerbund for a tighter fit.
Trying to take mags out of my BHI vest feels like the whole vest is going to slide over my head.

Got a picture of how you have it loaded?
It has a cumberbund. See the flappy-dealy above all that PALS webbing, at the top of the main body between the big straps? Pull that up and the cumberbund is inside there.
I have one and it works fine for me. With the back plate carrier, it's pretty comfy too, although admittedly not my first choice, but whatever.

Are we talking about different pieces of kit, perhaps?

It sounds like you either got the wrong size, your wearing it wrong, or you messed up somewhere else along the line.
I have the same vest and havent had a problem. The problems you mentioned I have never experienced.

What setup do you have with the mag pouches? I think I see 2x M4 Double Mag Pouches w/ shingles, so that you put another pair of 2x M4 Double Mag pouches w/out Shingles. :) What brand also?

I don't wanna go too far off topic, so I'll answer you in a PM.

I've fiddle-farted with the shoulder straps a little bit, but wanted a back carrier.
When I get back from my trip this weekend (leaving tomorrow), I will draw up a design and see what BHI thinks about it. I am more fond of wrap-around cummerbunds and hope BHI will make a carrier with one.

go to a tailor and get the side buckles reversed, they're a pain in the arse as they are right now, shyt design.
Also sits better with a large front plate, and an x-large plate in the back.......if you don't wear plates, don't buy a plate carrier!!
I just bought an Eagle CIRAS vest,Land version.......superb,best thing I've bought in ages, other than my ticket back to the UK in July!!!

I had a chance to buy a large CIRAS land version demo for $300 from ADCO
The only problem is thats I need a medium and I dont know how hard it would be to trade for a medium or sell for $500 or so to get a medium

I was under the impression that EAGLE sizes med/lg refer to the Plate Size, and not the size of the overall carrier?

The bigger Eagle vest size has 2 more rows of webbing on them.

I have to agree that Eagle CIRAS is a more "secure" design but I have no problem with my BHI "RACK" type (Left) "Commando "Recon Chest Harness" with back plate. Probably it is designed to take a SAPI plate, & kind of loose without it inserted?

Skorotsny-- That's the bib, not a cummerbund. Cummerbund goes around the belly--think tuxedo, that weird silk thingy you wear under the jacket.
Regardless, BHI f'd up the attachment points on the Recon & back panel as noted (wrong buckles). That's probably where your problem lies--once you get that straightened out it should work a lot better.

When I get some free time, I will draw up a pretty detailed fix on BHI STRIKE vests. which include more velcro, more nylon, and maybe less buckles.
Once I get that done (if I get it done before sunday), I will send them to BHI and see what they think.
Anywho, I might just sell my BHI recon plate carrier and straps and the back plate carrier and get something different.

Ah, there we go. Thanks dude. (I've never worn a tux, but I know what you mean!)
