Moderators Experiment NOT Failed? In my opinion NO :( ...
This post isn't against mods because they do hard work trying to maintain peace&order here... But effects aren't good.. Sociology has spoken here...
Mods locks more and more topics, they are becoming more "agresive and restrictive', but as any action this causes reaction...Instead of one flame infested topic at once we have 10, because flamers from closed topic move to another few to continue fights with their opponets so even good interesting topics will be or are closed because of this. We have also new kind of flame wars, wars with mods...this pushes mods to became more restrictive so flamers became more active and so on... We are moving from self regulating organism thru desorginised and paralized by flame wars and trolls of any kind to centraly controled biurocrate machine where every post must be authorised by mods to show up to public, every "dissobey" will effect in some sort of represive action. Flamers are to stupid to break that circle...so there is petition to our mods...plz go underground like it was just before that experiment and react only if this is absolutly necessary...
Just some thoughts p-)
EDIT : question in post was edited to fit question in poll, and YES-1 and NO+1

yeah it helps abit, but its a pain in the arse when they close some down right before you post happened to me a few times.
You should've made a third option helps somewhat - thats where I stand I think the mod experiment helps somewhat.

Bad thoughts... it's already going better than it used to be, the big trolling flames aren't as bad as they used to be, and it's propably only getting better in the future.

Maybe I'm fatalist, but I'm sure that in near future it will be ideal place for mods, I only worry that no one else will left..BTW I just left other forum where same thing happened. I just don't want that to happen here.

At first I was afraid that Argyll is going to overuse his powers and kick half the forum out, hehe. But my fears proved to be total BS, and I think that the forum is actually improving (although it was a bit rocky the first few days).
Good work Argyll  !

Nah...the only thing the mods are cracking down on is racist crap, and utterly useless nation bashing and retarded flames. Unless you're a big fan of any of those, I really doubt how it could have any negative effect.

It doesn't work directly..I'm against rasist slurs and other crap, but closing topic where **** happened pushes flamers to other topic so from one banned topic you have three new ones glowing from hate, they ussualy don't create new topics but infest good ones for they ****. Also Argyll likes to ban politics , even topic is in general and there is no extra flame just normal ****s size exchange :)
Argyll normally doesn't lock politics, only when it's utter crap or flamewars. Second, flamers don't go 'flaming in another topic'. That's stinky stuff coming out of a male cow's ass.

You know, In my opinion the new mods are doing a great job. The closing of topics is a much needed measure to remind many of the racists/dumbasses/ etc. that not everything is allowed here.
Keep it up, please.

This forum is a micro cosmos. And if any of you wonder if it is ever going to be peace on earth, just need to look on some of the topics and the answers that they get.
I like to belive that the majority thatends up here, are mostly interested in military issues, whatever they be.
But we do come from different cultural backgrounds. Some of us are a little bit over protective about their army or country. But that is normal. Most of us don't like to see that our country is being kicked in to the mud and stamped on.
The forum weant down like a burning German fighter over England in May 1940, so something had to be done. I can't imagine how this place would have looked if it weren't for the moderators. I can agree that sometimes they close some of the threads a little bit to fast under the motto: better safe than sorry.
But that we just have to live with.

I usually explain the rerasons openly or privately nothing is locked because I have a grudge against anyone.

Why does this not surprise me?
If most of you followed the forum rules then Topics would not get locked!!

Argyll we don't accuse you for locking good topics...I just state that locking bad ones spread angry flamers all around the board instead of giving them possibility to whine a little and cool down:)...

Take this up with Hood then as these are HIS RULES,and seeing as this is HIS site ,then I would be showing the same sort of respect to him as if it was my own site.
Topics are not getting locked for the sake of it,look at most of them again and you'll see why they're getting locked.
Once again this is not a site about Politics,or Country bashing, hence the reason why this site is not called................your-country-sux-ass-andyour-all-muslim-scumlovers.com.
Oddly enough it's called Militaryphotos.net....I wonder why?
I don't mind lighthearted banter, but when it gets ugly and inflamatory then it has no place here.

Why you repeat what I just said :). I agree with you Argyll. My point is that locking bad threads may lead to some sort of escalation with can spoil "atmosphere" of that site, with is greatest it advantage...If you take a look at the past we were dealing with flamers and **** quite well then( at least not worse than now).
I can tell you how I see that:
PAST
1) Extensive moderation started, Everyone is hurraaaa optimisic about that(Maybe not me :) ).
2) Some stupid guy like Sixgun Symphony making stupid comments in topic caused it lockage, so he moved to another ones causing the same, spoilng fun, making people angry even in topics he would probably never read if not ban of his oryginal topic.
3)His acount was banned and his IP also.
4)He returned under many names and he used Proxies(IP hiders) so he could avoid bann. He was angry and extremly offensive...
NOW
5)All his acounts were banned, registration of new user needing valid mail was presented...
FUTURE
6) Sixgun with new mail accounts register new names and start **** again
7)He will be banned again. Registration of new user will need manual mod aprovment(so new mods will be presented), working mail, and other very restrictive limitations will be presented to new users. Such like: daily post limit, trial periods, sandbox part of forum so newbies don't spoil the rest of it etc... All foreginers who liked simplicity and welcomnes of that place with was encouraging them to start posting and visting that place will be lost. No new nice photos from around the world. No new topics and interesting news from small and not important countrys...
BTW: If I remember well politics discussed in proper way weren't banned officialy...yet :).
So basically your entire argument against the succes of 'The Moderator Experiment' is that piece of **** Sixgun? Time to affect the US population with -1...

Sixgun was more or less rethorical figure...there is many more freaks out there...I hope you(prular) understand what I mean, I just think that extensive banning and locking can make more bad than good...
just some thoughts :)
