1.Rangers
2. Special Forces

and out of those 2, the more elite of those 2 or
Delta Force (I think they are the most elite)
and something I just found out is that Special Forces used to be known as the Green Berets. So thats what happened to them

Well, neither SF nor the 75th Rangers is really more elite than the other. They do different things; this is an over simplification, but the Rangers' traditional role has been to hit targets themselves, while SF's traditional role has been to train others to hit targets, while still being extremely adept fighters themselves.

Also, Green Beret's is more of a nickname. The official name has always been Special Forces, though now it's a command as well.

Delta is still the cream of SF and Rangers, though it's not for every personality. Therefore, just because a Ranger is a Ranger or a SF soldier is in SF, it doesn't make them any less of a man or a soldier than a Delta operator. Having said that, Delta's are the pinnacle of soldiers. Of course, the military, and the special operations community, are both immensely more complicated than these three units, even in the Army alone. For example, the Army has Psychological Operations and Civil Affairs units and various support special operations units, for starters.

No harm no foul though. They're fair questions, and I certainly had no clue what the answers were many years ago. I've probably got a few years on you though. Me personally, I know that just about the only way I learn is for me to admit first that I don't know something, then to seek out the answer. Have a good one, and just some thoughts...

Delta Force are not a true part of the Special Forces, although the name 1 Special Forces Detachment Delta seems to suggest it...
They are the most elite unit of the three. Only the very best make it to Delta. Training is top notch, too.

Number two are the regular Special Forces. They may not be "tougher" than Rangers, but their training is more diversified. (Special Forces are great sappers for example). They are also trained to work with indigenous militias and to train them (Rangers are not).

The Rangers are the most regular of the "SpecOps" Units...they are organised and structured similar to "normal" military units. The main difference is that they are much "tougher", survival, recon and airborne trained.

Now you have four different answers, which also contradict each other.
Pick the one you like most.

Some still do consider them as part of SF for several reasons, but some do not. Does it really matter what part they are? Anyways back to the topic: CAG is the most "publicly" known elite force.

I might be partial to your answer Kitsune, as I was never a Regiment fella. I think our's are essentially the same answers. Have a good one, just some thoughts...

Last night I was abused @ a local video shop by an angry lady.
Apart from that I can't complain.... except about the following:

*Beer isn't tasting like strawberry milkshakes
*The economy is recovering and exports are coming down (oh the irony)
*This country is to hot
*My bed smells

I'm sorry to hear that bud. I don't know if there's much I can do about any of that, except maybe suggest carrying mace, making strawberry beershakes, moving to a colder location, and washing your sheets. I once had an apartment that smelled horrible and made me sick. It turned out there was mold in the floor of my room. I moved out. I don't know if that helps you in any way though. Hope tonight goes better for you.

Can an individual or organisation even be "more elite"?

AFAIK there are no degrees of "eliteness".

Heres a stupid example:

Imagine, that I belonged to an elite group of nitpicking posters. If someone within that group was a better nitpicker I think he/she would just be better than me, rather than more elite.

I beleive Special Forces are more Elite than Rangers, Rangers are a SOF, but Special Forces are up there with Delta.

Special Forces need to be MultiLingual-Rangers Do not
Special Forces need 2 specialties- Rangers Do not
Special Forces training is longer and harder- Ranger School is only 2 months ( not saying ranger school is hard )

IMO a guy who said:

should keep his keyboard in the locked mode for this thread.

And by the way....I'm authorized to wear the green beanie.

oh that well,i wanted to provoke a discussion on that topic.I am sorry if i slighted you in anyway. If you are a Green beret then you will understand why i reacted the way i did.I dont know who is more elite and even if i knew i won't tell.If he really wanted to know then he should join up and find out firsthand.11F5S sorry,no disrespect intended your way.It was a slightly overreaching statement i made. And as for the black soldiers comment, well lets just say that was not one of my finset moments.
