A friend from Georgia just emailed me this. I don't know how true it is but makes you think. Guns? Yes plz.

FACTS TO PONDER:

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human Services.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now think about this:Guns:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.(Yes, that's 80 million..)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is

.000188

Statistics courtesy of the FBI

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, statistically, doctors are approximately

9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,

BUT

ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Out of concern for the public at large,

We have withheld the statistics onlawyers

for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek

medical attention!

That last part is great!

And on a serious note, I've seen similar statistics several times, mostly brought up in response to the AMA (or some similar doctor group) taking some very anti gun positions.

Something similar that was my favorite: the stat abot how many children are accidently killed by guns (which leaves out people 18-21 which some anti groups include as "children" and leaves out gang bangers and other criminals "accidently" shooting each other) is less than the number killed by drowning in buckets. BUCKET CONTROL NOW!!! FOR THE CHILDREN!!!

The statistics just don't make sense...

I refuse to believe that 1 out of 7 doctors ****s up once a year and kills someone.

The term "accidental death" just isn't accurate.

I support the right to bear arms but this argument is retarded.

A better comparison would be driving. Driving causes more death than gun ownership. The only problem is that there are actually people advocating car bans (luddites, environmental loons), so that wouldn't be a good idea.
