I don't understand this. What is the radio antennae part suppose to do? Is it suppose to just LOOK like a radio? Because it doesn't.

Not up close, not in a internet forum thread where you've already been told its an SMG. If you're not paying attention, just walking by, who knows what it might look like, that red color definitly isn't one you see on a lot of guns.

Boatman's SMGs apparently came in a variety of colors, including the one in Robocop which, IIRC, was blue.

Dont forget that this was created in the 1980's. So the radios we have today look nothin like it. The radio below is from the 1980's... add a little red and it looks pretty close

it was designed as a personal protection weapon for politicans and high ranking business men during the 1980 when there was a string of kidnappings

If memory serves me right, there is a picture of a U.S. Secret Service Agent unfolding the original Ares gun during the attemp on President Ronald Reagan.
My google foo isn't good enough to dig it up, any takers?

You are right nobody's gonna use it now, but back when it was designed it has seen some use.

Not the radio model though, which doesn't look like anything outta the eighties. If you wanted to hide a gun eighties style you gotta conceal it in a Sony Walkman or in a weird hairdo. Hey, 70's and 80's where the start of the plastic age, this "thing" screams "I'm a '57 military walky talkie" with its sheet metal furniture.

Nope not that one. On the photo I mean the agent was literally pulling it out of his back pocket and unfolding it. I've seen it in an old SOF mag way before the Internet. Could be that I'm confusing a pic that went with the story of the gun, with the attempt on Reagan though. Well, it's half a life time ago, so memory is shady
