Hey all. I was just watching a Discovery Channel show about Stalingrad, and there was a segment where the final radio transmission from inside the Tractor Factory was read out. It went something along the lines of "i've just loaded my last clip, in ten minutes the Bolsheviks will overrun us. Tell my father I knew how to die" etc. For some reason I found it pretty moving, so if anyone knows where I can find a quote or a clip, please post it. I've tried Googling it for ages, but no luck.

I'll see if I can dig it up. If I remember correctly, that quote was from a young German soldier who was in one of the last positions still holding out in Stalingrad. His father was a famous doctor in Germany, and they transcribed his transmission and sent it out to other German units afterwards as a kind of morale booster (that and part of the whole 'Total War' thing they were preparing for). I believe I originally read it in Soldat: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0440215269/qid=1149885985/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-8030645-0568010?s=books&v=glance&n=283155
