Palestinian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar, who has been seeking to raise money for the financially strapped Hamas government, returned to the Gaza Strip on Wednesday with a suitcase full of cash, Palestinians officials said.

An official said Zahar was believed to be carrying up to $20 million. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media.

The official said Zahar had declared the money at the border, which is controlled by President Mahmoud Abbas' presidential guard and monitored by European observers. It was not immediately clear whether Zahar would be permitted to keep the money.

Last month, a Hamas official was caught as he tried to smuggle about $800,000 into Gaza. The money was seized, but later returned to the government. Normal travelers must declare all sums over $2,000 and explain their origin.
Abbas has been in a power dispute with the Hamas-led government, and his presidential guard must make the final decision about what to do with the money.

A cutoff in Western aid has left the Hamas-led Palestinian government broke and unable to pay salaries to tens of thousands of civil servants for three months. The money carried by Zahar would cover only a small portion of the government's piling debts.

Israel and Western donors have demanded that Hamas renounce violence and recognize Israel's right to exist as a condition for restoring the aid. Hamas, which is sworn to Israel's destruction, has rejected the calls and instead turned to Arab and Muslim countries for help.
The source of Zahar's money wasn't immediately known. During his recent trip, Zahar traveled to Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, China, Pakistan, Iran and Egypt.

Hamas has said it has raised over $60 million, but previously has been unable to transfer the money to the Palestinian areas because banks are afraid of running afoul of U.S. anti-terrorism laws.

Israeli ex-minister in drugs bust

A former Israeli minister has been arrested on attempted drug trafficking charges.

Dutch police say 25,000 ecstasy tablets were found in a package which Gonen Segev is alleged to have stowed in a locker at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.

Mr Segev is alleged to have tried to use a diplomatic passport with a falsified date in it to avoid the airport security checks.

Mr Segev, who denies the charges, was energy minister under Yitzhak Rabin.

His lawyer is quoted by the AP news agency as saying a friend had asked Mr Segev, a 48 year-old doctor, to take a gift of chocolates back to Israel.

Israeli police spokesman Gil Kleiman said they had been investigating Mr Segev and the two other people arrested with him for some time.

"On two different occasions he arrived at the airport in Holland," he said.

"On both occasions there was suspicion he had in possession illegal chemical substances.

"He was asked to open his bag, he showed a diplomatic passport with an invalid date. He refused to open the bag. In both cases he left the airport."

Mr Segev is reported to have placed the suspicious bag in a locker in Schiphol Airport, before continuing onto his flight to Israel.

He was arrested in Israel once the Dutch authorities had confirmed the bag contained the thousands of ecstasy tablets.

Mr Segev was remanded in custody for a week when he appeared on Thursday at a Tel Aviv magistrates court.

Israeli police reportedly keeps an officer permanently in the Netherlands due to attempts by Israeli drug rings to smuggle narcotics from Western Europe.

The LEHI was a fringe group persecuted by the mainstream Haganah.

As PM he proved to be very different from the young extrimist he was in the LEHI days.

Wonderful news, that means that the health crisis in Gaza is over. Right?

Pelasgos; you always have to go off-topic in order to criticise the same people for the others wrongdoings. Didn´t we agree that you were not obsessed with the jews, and therefore you weren´t a judeophobe?

Well I don't know how many years he was facing if he went to court... but he got 5 years as part of a plea bargain.

He is doing his time in Ayalon Prison (wouldn't want to spend a week in that place).

Sounds like a nasty place. I assume this is the same facility you are referring to?

Ramla-Nitzan Prison
Also known as "Slow Death Facility", was closed in 1994 but re-opened during the current uprising. Prison authorities apply the same regulations specific to common criminals such as body search during exercise breaks and cuffing during intra-section movement. These detainees were surprised to find out the prison administration applies outdated rules and regulations, even worse than those of the seventies. Detainees are being totally isolated from the outside world. They reported cells are in very bad shape, lack of sunlight and are full with roaches.

Yep, its formal name is Ayalon Prison but it's usually referred to as Ramle Prison.

That is where Eichmann was hanged.

BS 13 uses the oldest propaganda trick-make the specific thing look like general- thus portray Palestinians as corrupted. I made the exact same to point it.

The only person who concluded that I posted the article in order to convey the message that the Palestinians are corrupt in general, is you.

Then again you concluded that scientific research raising the option that Jesus may have walked on ice was an attack on Christianity... since the author was Jewish.

So I guess no one should be surprised when such foolishness comes from your direction.

Go read from your copy of the 'The Protocols of the Elders of Zion' and save us your mambo jumbo.

As a matter of fact i presented a number of Jewish 'artists' attacking Christianity claiming it's just artistic freedom:

An 'artist'' in Russia portrays Jesus in a coca cola poster with the motto 'This is my blood'.

In Athens a gallery includes a painting portraying a ***** ejaculating on a cross. The 'painting' is called 'Holy *****'

Another guy, a comics writer publishes between Orthodox and Catholic Easter a comic showing Jesus smoke marijuana and a girl waiting him on bed among other things.

The fact that these 'artists' are either Jews or have a strong support by Jewish lobbies when they face the law for blasphemy or have Jewish galleries exhibit with great PR campaigns is an issue. They don't represent the state of Israel and world Jewry but certainly they represent some Jewish circles. And they harm inter-religion affairs.

Alexander Kosolapov's posters ' my blood' and 'This is my body'- his own site:

He's a Russian Jew.

Elders of Zion? Why are you so obsessed with this anonymous book? No serious person will give a s.. for this. Contrary some famous philosophers are defaming Jews in a most serious way but you don't touch them:

VOLTAIRE (Francois Marie Arouet) 18th century French philosopher, writer

"You will only find in the Jews an ignorant and barbarous people, who for a long time have joined the most sordid avarice to the most detestable superstition and to the most invincible hatred of all peoples which tolerate and enrich them." ("Juif," Dictionnaire Philosophique)
