my bro has it and i played it, man its sweet.
i was sniping and i sent the second team to go ahead of me, and i saw their team leader sneak up behind a tango, whip out his pistol and pop the guy in the back of the head, sweetest thing i ever saw

that is awesome. i am so bored today, that i need a new game. i have played vietcong to the point where it is boring. and call of duty keeps freezing somehow but only when i play multiplayer, so a new game should be just what i need.

Ravenshield's awesome man, both multiplayer and singleplayer, if you can find a good bunch of guys to play with, the multiplayer coops are rude .. ;).

Co-op are for sissies.

I liked the sound and the ragdoll effect in the game. Good graphics too.

Ravenshield and it's expansion pack Athena Sword are both pretty fun, they're just both WAY too short.

Re-installed RvS a few days ago 'cause I've got bored of Lock On (Needs a few bug fixes still, Lock On that is.), it is good fun, might pick up, well order, Athena Sword later this week. £12.99 not bad compared to other expansion packs that are around for other games. Remember to patch up though MarineDEP4!

It's so cheap because it's so damn short... about 5 hours and that's it.

Prob' take ages for me though, I get guilty when the operatives die ... So I restart the mission and maybe even the planning, till I get a good enough outcome for moi.

Actually...I work the same way. It was less than 5 hours...without a single operative casualty.

Hmmm, what are the new maps like? They seem to be the major 'thing' for me. ... Also do all the guns now have the new firing recordings?

:)

Not much new in the guns area...like 6 or 7 new guns. Not much new maps either...there's 7 new mission...on 5 new maps. (They recycle 2 maps, which are about 95% the same the second time you play them). The last mission is a joke; if you do it well it takes you less than 30 seconds. Basically it wasn't all that bad if you downloaded it, but if I had bought it I'd be pulling my hairs outta my head right now.

Don't know about any 'new sounds'...at least it wasn't different enough for me to notice.

Huh...then I must really, really suck at this game. Haven't been able to finish it yet (Raven shield, that is). I'm at mission 12 or something, haven't played it for some time now. I also won't finish a mission unless all the operators make it, so it takes me ages...

5 hours was for the expansion pack... the original was longer. Not over 10 hours either though. (and those cheap bastards recycled 3 maps in the original campaign as well...)

Operation Stabilise (about Aussie SASR in East-Timor) was good.

What! Either you are ****ting me or there is like 420 minutes to a dutch hour! I honestly do not believe you finished the original in less than 10 hrs without a single casualty, at least not the first time around. That's not possible! What kind uber-computer guy are you?

Well you know...first person shooters become kinda easy when you play them for like 10 years. Besides, I already played the first 2 Rainbow Six games.

Ratamacue
03-21-2004, 03:39 PM
Well, to be technical, the R6 series isn't so much a first person shooter as a tactical shooter, which makes it a wee bit different from Doom, wouldn't you agree? ;)

Haiw

I know, but tactical shooters happen to be my favorite shooters. ;)

Besides, the whole aiming part and 'shooter basics' are still the same.

I agree; R6, GR, OFP, etc., all those games friggin' rock your socks backwards.

As for Raven Shield, I got it free with my Audigy2 sound card, been playing a little bit on and off though I haven't really been too into it.

man i hear you loud and clear on that one..

Although my the end I did have to lose over half my guys just so that I could beat the darn game. However there are a few ppl I that I just can't lose like the Polish chick (i don't like her but she's polish so you know) Ding and a few others, the other players I had to sacrifice for the sake of beating the game.

What i find works is you have two teams one team with good ppl and the second with cheap UN dudes that way I limmit my losses.

Just make 2 or 3 teams, and start with the best shooters and work your way down. So best shooter 1 goes to team red, best shooter 2 to blue, best shooter 3 to gold, best shooter 4 to red, best shooter 5 to blue, etc. Never used snipers, recon, electronics, demo guys or anything like that. They're pretty much useless IMO.
