Exotic Sniper Weapons...

I was curious about the Sniper Weapon System used in the following pic's. I think it's KSK in Afghanistan. Is it an Accuracy International G22 or perhaps an Arctic Warfare Series (AW338, ironic if it is)?

Any insight on this fluted weapon or unit application in Afghanistan is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes it is an G22! actually, the G22 is a sniper rifle specialized for the german army(folding stock) it's from the accuracy international company. and indeed it is one weapon of the AW (artic warfare)series. but not the AW338 lapua magnum it's 7,62mm.
i don't know whether the first picture was taken in afghanistan or at an multinational excercise in oman, jordan?! :|

It looks like the one in the picture, except for the front sight. As for the 7.62mm, Still a BIG round...

In 1998, the Bundeswehr (Germany Army) also adopted the AW Super Magnum rifle chambered in .300 Winchester magnum (germany designation 7.62x67mm) as Scharfschutzengewehre (sniper rifle - german) G22.

I vaguely found some info on the location. November 2001, when KSK-soldiers trained with the British in the southern Oman province Dhofar. In the past they have also prepared in the United States for desert missions.

G-22 is only the name in the german army. Normaly known as an AWM. It is nearly the same but with an special optic. It is very nice. ;)

Ryan94, goto http://www.hkpro.com for all the answers. It's Yes, for the american civilian market; no - not going to replace the M4/M16 line and a matter of preference in terms of the grenade launchers. The barrels on the M203 slide forward where the HK's flip up/drop down or laterally out. The destinct advantage of the HK launchers are the multiple ordinance lengths that can be used which allows greater munitions versatility. On the battlefield you probably would probably only use a limited munitions selection though, meaning the max. opening of the 203 forward slide renders it self suitable for standard combat applications. Really, personal preferences only.

Hey guys, just a FYI, the rifle the German is shooting in the Canadian picture, is the .50 caliber McMillan Tactical. It's the same rifle in which the Canucks scored the longest kill record (beating out Hathcock), durring Operation Anaconda, in Afghanistan.

lol, thats about normal size for most 50BMG suppressors I have seen. From my understanding, they only make the weapon as audible as a 7.62 unsuppressed, which is still considerably loud. Thank you, about the mod, btw. Also, I've heard it actually took three shots to make that record, with the Tact-50. I believe about three Army SF shooters were with the Canucks aiding them, as well.

Hobbies can include things such as writing, making model airplanes, or if you lack that sort of patience, you can always just go and play a game of cards with someone instead of rotting in front of a computer all day.

Also, I have worked for Aramco in Saudi Arabia, so I know the region. Let me tell you, I used to go for a run every day, even when it was 50 degrees in the shade. Sure, I would be exhausted, and dripping in sweat, but don't tell me that it is impossible to go outside. Also: the Aramco facilities were airconditioned and we had a pool, I am sure you have the same in Bahrain, since you are on an American installation (military?). Go and take a swim.

You could do as I did and go to college (and get a degree, an education, etc. something usefull as you will find out in a few years) and being in the ROTC and become an officer. Maybe you aren't fit to be an officer, you obviously lack the tact necessary to be a leader.

o.k. wait that's how it went......i lived in germany for 14 years(iam now 16) i moved in the middle east (live here 2 years now) and iam not going to an american school i never spoke english before i even spoke german to my dad, so what iam saying is that iam speaking english for almost 2 years now and i imporved so much in 2 years it's unbielievable yes my english grammar and writing is bad but i don't care cause right now iam working on speaking it iam not worrying about th writing right now that much.

I am pretty sure that Germans use periods and construct sentences, etc. Apparently you flunked out of school there too. You dont even write in sentences, I cannot decipher where one thought ends and the next begins.

I see, I see. Let me tell you that I went to Saudi after living in London for a year and London isn't exactly warm either. Before that I spent a few years in Austria, which isn't exactly famous for its beaches and sunshine either... note that I ran in Saudi every day! In Saudi the humidity was so bad at times that the minute I stepped outside my shirt was instantly drenched.

BTW: I lived close to the Air Force base so I had F16's taking off daily. At least you could move of of the "anti-american arab" neighborhood.

Maybe I didn't quite break you yet. Instant reply! Wow! I wrote about the soda 10 seconds ago! Congrats in drinking water. You might look into tea, as in warm tea. Herbal is better, but drinking green tea is a great habit to acquire, it has many good qualities. Anyway, in Saudi I found that the best way to cool down is the old Bedhouin method of drinking warm liquids. So I took up drinking tea. Trust me, drinking warm tea beats cold water every time in the extreme heat.

This has nothing to do with opinion. Why do you have to resort to those lame liberal tactics of making everything about "freedoms", "rights", and "my/his/everyone's free opinion"? Try something new once in a while. I am not excessivley picky, I also make plenty of mistakes, but you on the other hand seem to make nothing BUT mistakes.

Anyway, the American system of public education is so flawed in many parts of the nation (Midwest public schools are actually quite good) that any retard graduating from a New York high school is most likely at the level of a 6th grader in Austria or Italy and a few other countries except that the NY student will have criminal record a mile long and will have serious mental defects. I am sure the American International School (Is that what it's called? I remember the AIS in Vienna, so I am presumming that there is a pattern) in Bahrain is much better than a NYC public school, but dont try to kid yourself with those multiple choice tests. In Europe you have a written and then an oral examination for the matura (or eretsegi in Hungarian). The SAT's are the most ridiculous excuses for a test that I have ever seen. Multiple choice is simply a flawed way of testing intelligence. A blank piece of paper and a series of questions followed by a strict examination by the teaching body is much better. Better get used to people asking you questions and expecting an answer right away.

Not all sir, I won't disclose my location if you don't mind. Not that it really makes a difference. I have been to Austria, I lived there, etc. I lived near and in Vienna. Then again, I have travelled quite a bit and have been in many places. Except Africa, Antarctica, Australia, and South America.

That's the problem. You should spend more time with the school English than the forum stuff which is often improper and very much unlike English, except in those circles. If you ever want to get anywhere in life, you better learn REAl English. So I suggest you hit the books.
