KAZANLAK, BULGARIA: Bulgarian soldiers march in their military base in Kazanlak, some 220kms east of Sofia, 06 January 2004. Defence Minister Nikolai Svinarov and Army Chief of Staff General Nikola Kolev visited a 480-strong battalion at Kazanlak, in central Bulgaria, that is preparing to replace an equal number of soldiers in Iraq. More than 40 of the replacements have withdrawn from the mission to Karbala since the attacks there, amid accusations that security at the military base in the holy Iraqi city south of Baghdad left much to be desired.

TIKRIT, IRAQ: US soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 22nd Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division prepare to fire a mortar during training at their base in Tikrit, 180 Kilometers (110 miles) north of Iraqi capital Baghdad, 29 December 2003. Five suspects are being held in connection with the deadly spree of attacks in Karbala, a spokesman for the coalition's multinational forces in the southern Iraqi city told AFP. The weekend's well-coordinated car bomb, mortar and machine-gun assaults killed five Bulgarian and two Thai soldiers as well as 12 Iraqis. About 200 people were also wounded in the attacks, the vast majority of them Iraqi.

I still don't get the deal with the Honkers. Did the Poles give them to the Lithuanians, lend them, or sell them?

Interesting that the Lithuanians are armed with M-16's.

I would of thought that the AK would still be in service with the for SovBloc countries.

NATO expansion hehe!

Well I would say: "5.56" there is standarization they did not had much weapons since russians took everything (almost) when retreated so they just sticked to NATO calibers and weapons what is ineresting the 3 baltic states have one comon military colledge (I don't know if it's opened or maybe not yet) to lower costs of soldier education also their air survivalence system is common AFAIK (all radar stations are linked and exchange informations) each country just have their own station thad displays results...
