Some pics from September of that year. Taken in the days following severe rioting that killed 7. Actions by US ETT's and reservists at the Herat PRT were exceptional, with several Bronze Stars earned. The story of that day is still being put together, but there was some serious craziness.

Pix include ETT's with ANA, burned out UN offices and Ismail Khan's tank corps that was taken into custody by the government. There's also shots from the Herat AF boneyard as well as local militia loyal to the government preparing for our trip to Islam Qala on the Iranian border.

US ETT's are attached to 76th Ind Inf. reg. Kiowa is 3/4 Cav 25ID

These pics are the first of ANA and US troops in full control of Herat.

Sergei,

That first picture in your post reminds me of a time in Iraq. We were gathering abandoned weapons and throwing them in a pile to destroy them. One of the guns, was the same as the one shown in the first picture of your post. When we threw it in the pile, it fired - KABLAM!!

We were very lucky no one was in front of the gun. We were much more careful after that.

I would be extremely Greatfull to see those :)

to best explain: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=82378&highlight=Afghan+migs

the photos of the boneyard you have taken are verry interesting! the 2 seaters with the serial 029? are MiG-15UTIs while the rest seem to be mig-17Fs.

One more plus one of me on some MiG. Don't think that will help you much.
