This is to add to PermskiiOmon's post, but with purty graphics and a Poll :)
Of course, I had to shorten the list quite a bit, as the forum would allow
for so many Poll Options :)

I'm not stupid........ It could be operated by the motor in some way

Lol - not implying that you are... However, I'm not particulary sure at the usefulness of the moving barrel, other than highly complicating the design and increasing the cost... Also, the parts for the moving barrel have to compete with the space that's otherwise taken by the gearbox/hopup unit
MVSpartan117
03-22-2004, 09:25 PM
Yes it would be rediculously (sp?) complicated and not practical but it would be cool. It's would only serve to add effect.

Nah - it's all good - is that yours?
I guess if only someone made an AK74 proper receiver - a lot more variations could have been possible :) Absense of correct receiver stopped me from getting airsoft AK and building conversions.
And those Smokey AK74 conversion kits are impossible to find

I guess any functionality of a real steel converted to airsoft is cool (minus firing real bullets of course) - from field stripping to moving parts...
However, best functionality of AK74 to be replicated in Airsoft - ability to drop it out of a moving car, getting it ran over by a bus, picked up and fired - that's something that airsoft AK should do :)

Theres already been designs and ways to modify your guns to be the majority of the guns on the list. More interesting and different the better, definately love the Ak103 though. Throw on those new "Star" mags that look like the 74 mags instead of the 47 mags.
Theres alot you can do with an Ak but of course any sorta customizations, involve the dremmel or someone how can handle one.

I'd say PKM, because with that I could complete my Finnish army LMG-team look!

Make conversion kits for Tokyo Marui - best way to go.

I'm well aware of Junkers air rifles - however, those are pellet rifles and shoot metal bb's at 3 Joules and have that fugly pistol grip.
I'm also aware of Trapper Industries and the airsoft guns they are producing made from demilled ex-warsaw pact weapons, including ONYX and RPK. They also take forementioned Junker air rifles and turn them into airsoft springers.
As for other airsoft conversions - no manufacturer makes stamped AK receiver that is used on all AK's since AKM's and on - using original milled receiver makes every AK look like a chineese or eastern block knock-off. Smokey's made full AK74, AKM and AKSU-74 conversion kits for TM AK47 but they were limited release and rather impossible to find. Otherwise, at the price of $600-$700 plus quite some labor and shopping around you can get any AK modification minus the correct receiver - maybe I'm being too picky :)

You're confusing MODEL MAKING with Airsoft. Stamped receiver's are great for hanging on the wall/conversation pieces - but who cares in the field? Really - who give's a flying freak?

Personally my choices would be: Mosin Nagant 1891/30, SVT-40, and Simonov SKS.

The looks, bro - the looks :)
Stamped and milled receivers look very different - so just by looking at two receivers you may spot the differences - you may not give a flying freak but then some people do. Thanks for your input though, it's highly appreciated. As for airsoft - some people go for the "trigger time", some people go the mil-sim way - to each their own, both ways should be catered to...

Looks don't have much to do with MilSim. If it goes bang when you pull the trigger then it's good enough for MilSim. To get anal about technical details of stamped receivers is just detracting from the game.
Of course - if you're a staging area-aholic who likes getting all posed up for photoshoot-a-thon's and talking like they just got out of a coma about the authenticity of their stamped/milled receivers then hey - this is important ****! It's all about being better than the other guy.
Real soldiers don't seem to care about stuff like that. To them if the gun works when they use it, they seem to be quite content, and worry about other things like the guy trying to kill them, regardless of the marking on their gun.

Well, you are obviously very opinionated and feel the need to resort to name calling and belittling attention to detail, proper replication of equipment and looking the part - some airsoft entusiasts partake in the sport as part of re-enactment and happen to take it very seriously. I've asked for people's desire to see certain exotic russian firearms replicated in airsoft - I'm well aware of airsoft market and while your vote counts, your attitude doesn't.
Once again - thanks for expressing your opinion but please don't highjack this thread

Name calling? What, are you making this up as you go along? Why did you have to reply like that? Based on your replies like 'thanks for the opinion' and the smiley I don't think you understand what I was talking about with regards to MilSim.
Far as I am concerned - MilSim is whatever you fancy, buddy. If you want me to start this so called name calling resort I think the word censor will kick in to the point where it's ineligible.
Sorry I really don't believe you are 'well aware' of the current airsoft market. But whatever horse kick to the/bump on the head/bathroom sink accident/coma dream you had that drew up all this market knowledge for you must have drawn you to advertise here of all places. I've seen enough airsoft related marketing polls and mass interest captures on dboard threads to realize that those types who post them would be quite dangerous with a brain.
(There's being a smart ass, MVSpartan117 - learn the freakkin difference.)
If this were the case in this Disney-esque world then manufacturers like Tokyo Marui, Western Arms and others would have to have public vote-a-thons for the next model to market. Keep telling yourself, StukaJr - you are the smartest person. You are a NICE person. You LIKE yourself. And golly gee - you're swell too.
Don't like my attitude? Too bad. It's not on trial here. If you don't want to listen to criticizm then just don't post. If you're so anal in your authenticity then who gives a **** about what others think? Just go it your own. Unless you're just looking for pats on the head/back for the ideas...
There's no smiley's for boot to the heads...

But what about pistols? I havnt seen anyone make a Markarov or a Tokarev.

Hudson Made TT 1933 about 3 years ago - performance left to be desired as most Hudson guns. Also, if I remember correctly - the gun was produced both black and chrome versions - neither of which were representative of the real rough steel finish of the reall TT's.
real kicker pistols would be APS and APSB - to add to the full-auto large frame pistol line up woot

Yes I remember the Tokarev now, but the Markarov deserves to be made too.

Theoritically you can also make yourself a pretty nice AK-74 or even a AK-74M.
Guarder makes pretty nice conversions for Tokyo Marui AK 47
Which can be seen on latter part of this page.
http://www.airsoftextreme.com/upgrades/akp90.html
and to finish some 5,45mm magazines.
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Category?menu1=13&menu2=681#14082
So if you already have a TM-AK47 it is rather simple. It is just (far too) expensive.

I'd like a PKM, probably with a Tokyo Marui AK gearbox, upgraded etc etc etc.
I think my ultimate Russian AEG would be:
AK-74M, AKSU-type side folding stock, wood furniture on foreend, Kobra sight (as a backup), GP30 Grenade Projector, and upgraded, all metal, real wood, and a large enough battery to really wring the thing out.
Anyone with me on this? It would make an AWESOME gun for both woodland/CQB, with the folding stock. A large battery could go SOMEWHERE...
Other than that, probably just a plain-jane AK74, made with super-durability in mind. My TM AK47S fell apart even though it was made of metal. Damn allen screws were always loose, even with loc-Tite.

Skorotsnoy, your talking about skeleton stock. My 5.45 AK-74M has synthetic stock which is the one where is is all filled in. Disadvantage of the skeleton is there is no cleaning kit placement unlike the synthetic. BTW what color mags will you like to have out of ones I have seen throughout me service, dark red, orange(my fav) or black????? I dont like wooden furniture because plastic is lighter and looks better also 74M is th only rifle which can do everything including GP-30, optic and baynet.

Okay folks. first off we need a mackarov. For almost any nationality you can find a suitable sidearm, but the USSR/Russia. Secondly any one have any pics of a current russian platoon, or something. I think its best to try to achieve whats feasable, and realistic. Keeping it basic.

The russian SAG guns i would like the most are
1. PKM!
2. A GBB Makarov, and a silencer for it!
3. PPsh-41!!!! Would really make my day!
4. SVD-98. A real russian sniper rifle.
5.RPD, great Vietnam/cold era support ass kicker!
6.Ak-105!!
And of course an Akm-74M.
Oh, My current favorit is my My all steel and wood kited Ak-47 with a boomarms Gp-25 launcer. My Next projekt is to fit a PSB-1 silencer and alonger inner barrel together with a PSN-3 Night sight to my other Ak 47. And of course its all metal and wood woot !
