Any competition shooters out there? Getting back into comp. shooting and want to go to an AR15 for service rifle shoots. Is the Armalite worth the extra $300 bucks over the Colt Match Target HBAR which is about $1000. It seems that the people winning the matches most are beating out the garand, M1As and springfield 1903s with the AR15. Also looking at the M1A national match but at $1800 freakin bucks! what do you guys or ladies use?

I have a Rock River service rifle, no complaints.

Unless rules have changed since I shot small-bore competition, having an H-BAR (or any other heavy-barreled AR variants) will disqualify you from most of the military-spec competitions, so unless I'm wrong about this, you might want to opt for a standard weight barreled rifle.

I wish I had that kind of money to buy 2. Obviously you don't know my wife, she likes to spend.

i think i must have married her sister.
quality wise i think of colt, cmt/stag and lmt in that order. everyone else is behind that. i believe that rra have some non-milspec dimensions, the stock tube for example. that's a deal killer for me personally. there's some buzz about billet lowers from folks like sun devil, they look cool but i don't see the benefit of a stiffer lower in an ar. a milled ak i understand but not an ar lower.
don't be flamin' an hatin', these are just my opinions.
