Which AK is that gold plated one? It doesnt look like the Tabuk's the Iraqies used... is it some kind of 'paratrooper' version or something? In 1976 Iraq bought from Yugoslavia a licence for 7,62mm M72B1 automatic rifle, and in 1976-1977 Yugoslavian engineers helps Iraquis to prodeced them. It was called Al Queda (or Al Quods) in Iraq. In 1978 Iraq bought also licence for M70B1 and M70AB2 assault rifles, called there Tabouk (or Tabuk). Iraquis make their own 5,56mm version of Tabuk (it wasn't the licenced M80 or M80A) and also 7,62mm short assault rifle (also called Tabuk) and 7,62 x 54R sniper rifle (it wasn't copy of M76) well... also called Tabuk ;)
So the answer your question short - this is also 7,62mm Tabuk assault rifle.
The only versions of short Tabuk I've seen were golden or platinium.

There were also a rumors that Iraq in 1980 bought the SVD licence from Russia. But in fact from 1984 Iraquis bought their versions of 7,62mm SVD sniper rifle called Al Kadesiah (or Al Qadissiya).

Many thanks for good photos.

From the other hand remember, that power and authority need luxury. In Eastern countries - gold and gems, in Western - steel, glass and leather, in all the world - guns. There are no doubts that Saddam`s rule was sick but this kind of sickness, golden guns, may be impressive. Even if this "toys" looks, well, silly.
