There isn't a NATO standard helmet, unless you mean the level of ballistic protection designs must have.

This what you mean?

It took quite some time to find it.

what I was looking for was the west german paratrooper steel helmets. They almost are identical (except for the liner i think) to the german ww2 para helm.

My "Gefechtshelm" (the modern standard helmet, using components similar to the US kevlar helmet) was made in Spain, if I remember it right.

Today the Fallschirmjäger (paratroopers) use a variant of that helmet, the "Sprunggefechtshelm", which is also used by the KSK.

Sprunggefechtshelm (without cover):

Gefechtshelm (with camo cover):

Stahlhelm (with net cover):

with camouflage cover:

Fallschirmjäger-Stahlhelm (as mentioned above, resembling the WWII helmet):

The steel helmets are no more in use. Also, as you can see above, the covers are different, just like the M1 and kevlar helmet covers are different.

Those are relatively modern. Im looking for the good old days of OD moleskin fatigues, and their ww2 para style steel pots.
