Harrison Ford as President James Marshall in "Air Force One." Marshall is a "robust, relatively young president and a much-decorated former soldier.

Bill Pullman as President Thomas J. Whitmore in "Independence Day." Whitmore is the "nation's first happily married president in decades who leads the assault himself.[/img]

George W. Bush

This one is really difficult but I'll say anyone but Martin Sheen. That red diaper baby commie pinko.

I like Bartlett as a character, and Palmer as well. I'm not bothered about their policies.

Incidentally, James Cromwell has played at least two seperate US Presidents, in Sum of All Fears, and a former president in an episode of the West Wing.

Morgan Freeman....he rocked in the role of US President in Deep Impact

Here's a funny one:

http://ww2.wpunj.edu/adminsrv/pub-info/FThompson.jpg

Fred Dalton Thompson.....

He was a character actor who played roles like Senator, District Attorney, Admirals, etc.......

Then he ran for US Senate in Tennessee....and won

He played the role of "important person" on TV and film....so he must be qualified to do the job....scary

I like Jeb Bartlett. I don't always agree with the actor, but the character is a good President; tough on terrorism, acts wisely domestically, has the respect of the leaders of other nations, treats his family with respect, unlike many Presidents.

I think Morgan Freeman's character was pretty good in Deep Impact. Pretty strong character, relatively ruthless, but I guess that comes with the situation.

cut, the president from the Fifth Element is pretty good, isn't he?

Have a good one all, and just some thoughts...

I'd say President Thomas Benson off Hot Shots: Part Deux

Benson - "Sabotage..... what does it mean?"
Colonel - "We have to tighten security sir, one of our own people could be working with the enemy"
Benson - "No the word sabotage, what does it mean?"

Benson - "Cookie?"
Colonel - "No thankyou sir"
Benson - "Young lady"
CIA lady - "Oh, not for me sir"
Benson - "No, no I was offering the gentlemen a young lady"

Benson - "Well Colonel I think we got our sabotuer?"
Colonel - "That's your wife sir"
Benson - "My wife? Oh yes, she looks as lovely as the day we met" *Whispers to Secret Service man* "Find out what she knows"

great film

More on "Tug" Benson

President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: We'll do this the old navy way. First one to die... loses!

Topper Harley: President Benson.
President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: No you're not. I've seen him on TV. An older man, about my height.
Michelle Huddleson: Mr. President, this is Topper Harley.
President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: Topper Harley, of course, the son I never had. No wonder I didn't recognize you then.

President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: Here's the target area.
Himself: That's Minnesota, sir.
President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: Damn it, man, that's the genius of my plan. Why go over there to fight? We can do it right here at home.
Himself: Sir, the enemy is over there.
President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: Then we'll fly them over here. Their families too. We'll teach them to skate... Do I have to think of everything?

Oh, I almost forgot, I think the President in Contact the book is great. Real sensible woman, tough as nails. The President in the movie...well Ms. Constantine, Angela Bassetts' character, is the President in the book, but she is pushed to the back by Clinton. Clinton  ...enough said. :D

Have a good one all, and just some thoughts...

What was that movie where they find the President a look-alike because the real President had a stroke? It was half comedy, half drama.

And there was a Michael Douglas-as-President movie I saw once with my wife. I don't remember much about it, but now there's one tough-looking President.

yeah.... the first one was Dave.... and the second one was The American President.... with Annette Benning.

I don't know Tane.... I think I'm going to have to go with you as my best fictional president. You've got my vote. As long as I can still be Secretary of Shoes. ;)
