Just curious, when using a shotgun to breach a door, what types of loads are utilized? And what (aside from short) does the barrel config consist of?
I would imagine it would have to be a specific load for safety purposes because to blow out a lock, you'd send all sorts of metal/wood debris and misc **** around.
Could anyone offer some insight?

Open (unchoked) is more important than length.

I've used Magdiscs, although I've never breached a door with a shotgun. They're expensive, stacked magnesium dime-size discs. They do make big holes in car bodies though.
Shot out of an 18 inch cylinder bore barrel.
Some tests that O_P and I did on breaching rounds.
