I like the scoped photos, interesting to see how it looks with and without the
view from the scope. I assume those are x10. The only one I really have experience
from is the x4 on the AK5B :(

What a mix ! :D

The first pictures of the assault course are taken in the French "Centre nationale d'Entrainement Commando" (CNEC) that's got two training centres, one located in Collioures near the sea and the other in Montlouis in the Pyrenees mountains on the border with Spain.

The other pics of assault courses are taken in Givet, North of France very close to the Belgium border.

The jungle pictures are taken in French Guyana during training with the Foreign Legion 3°REI's Centre d'Entrainement en Forêt Equatoriale (CEFE) located in Régina.

Yes, it's an Ameli. The guy holding it is an Spanish marine. You can know it due to they are the only ones using it with the SUSAT sight, and also the USMC cap alike they wear. Spanish marines are the only ones in the Spanish armed forces also that use Hummers.

When I saw this pic....for a second I thought it was 1940's vintage :D With Flecktarn looking much like the SS camo....the only thing that would give it away would be the helmet ;)

The instructors of the CEFE, the Foreign Legion jungle training centre in Régina, French Guyana, wear commercial, US made Tiger Stripes BDUs.

It was a decision from the General commanding the Forces in the West Indies and Guyana who decided these guys should differenciate themself from the rest of the French armed forces there.

This Tiger Stripe uniform fades very quickly there and is not particularly efficient in the jungle; the OG uniforms work I think much better.

Although you can't compare the MG3 with MG4. The MG4 is a typical SAW that gives an infantry squad more firepower than their standard assault-rifles (for example for suppressing fire, but it lacks the firepower of a GPMG (7.62 all the way, baby http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/spezial/Fool/kar.gif)

yes thats right and the mg4 wont ever replace the mg3 fully.

@seventy6er

Dont you think there will be a 7.62 version of the MG43(HKs name for the MG4)?

From HKPRO:

The gun is also reportedly to be developed in 7.62mm x 51 NATO as well.

So no need for crying. ;)

The MG4 is as already mentioned a light infantry support machine gun, similar to the US SAW. It is due to replace the currently used MG36. The MG4 wont replace the MG3 whatsoever as the main machine gun within the Bundeswehr, but it will replace the MG3 in specific roles, like as a support gun on group/squad level.

The MG4 is part of the moderinzation program of the infantry units of the Bundeswehr called "IdZ" and will be issued to the troops starting this year.

Couldnt comment on that, everything fades after awhile though. Thanks for the info, learn something new everyday.
