Don't the israelis ever think of switching to full camo uniforms?

Nahhh, we need some old style OD in the world. Most studies prove it to be the most effective camouflage in terms of versatility. While I am a huge fan of camouflage (and collect it) I think it is highly overrated on the personal level. Some if very good, some is more for esteem or pride or just plain good looks, some camo is worthless. Olive Drab is versatile, becomes patterned from light/dark shadows, dirt, sweat, gear, etc, and is good from the blending side of camo theory, not as much on breaking outline, but then very few camos are.
Great pics!

Nice post Ezra Coli :D

Well in some units they do have them like here……
http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/nm/20040321/mdf500748.jpg
or like with the pics that pretorian669 has brought with Israeli camo BDU’s
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/Dsc03209.jpg
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/Dsc03208.jpg
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/Dsc03203.jpg
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/Dsc03200.jpg
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/Dsc03199.jpg
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/GUNS/IMAG0010.jpg
But yes in general most units rely on the standard IDF OD BDU’s
Now yes perhaps some can argue that we should probably change though it’s at least in my opinion not as critical or that much of any issue as you might think.
I say that for now most of the IDF operations are centered around urban areas and as such the OD or switching to another doesn’t really matter.
Secondly even in surrounding areas of where units set up ambushes and things like that, the general colors scheme of the outlining areas isn’t as contrasting to the OD as you might think and OD works adequately in that terrain.
Not to mention the fact of the overall versatility in its adequate effectiveness in all of the different terrains that Israel has whereas some of the other camo BDU;s aren’t as versatile to adapt to certain terrains.
Anyways perhaps the IDF will change (and as has been mentioned before, we did get a lot of suplus U.S. BDU’s) though the only reason I can see that the IDF in general has not up to now fully adapted another BDU (except for a few select units) is due to budgetary constraints and limitations.
Anyways besides I am not even sure there is any need for it for most front line IDF combat infantry units each have these reversible camo suits (and use them when needed) that work excellent and in my opinion are the best in breaking up your outline which is what you want to do in camouflaging yourselves to the terrain.
A few examples are here……..
http://www.isayeret.com/camo/camo-7.jpg
http://www.isayeret.com/camo/camo-8.jpg
http://www.isayeret.com/weapons/micell/stinger/stinger-3.jpg
or a few select units even have these for urban operations….
http://www.isayeret.com/camo/camo-9.jpg

So while the IDF has some improving to do in the area of camouflage in general, it has certainly come along way and improved significantly as compared to even ten years ago.
