I found this link off a Yahoo news item.... started reading it and rolled my eyes a bit, read a bit further and .... well, you decide.

The plan to eradicate the Afghan resistance was straightforward: US-led coalition forces would drive from inside Afghanistan into the last real sanctuary of the insurgents, and meet the Pakistani military driving from the opposite direction. There would then be no safe place left to hide for the Taliban and al-Qaeda remnants, or, presumably, for Osama bin Laden himself. The plan's implementation began with the launch of operation "Mountain Storm" around March 15.

But the insurgents have a plan of their own, which they have revealed to Asia Times Online. Conceived by foreign resistance fighters of Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Arab origin, it is a classic guerrilla stratagem that involves enmeshing the mighty military forces of the United States and its allies in numerous local conflicts, diverting them from their real goal and dissipating their strength.

Fat lot of good those "crazy satalites" have done so far.

The issue is whether or not the US/Afghan/Pakistan forces have tied down an awful lot of troops for nothing, and whether the consequences in terms of tribal warfare in Pakistan are going to make the whole thing worth it.... as I said, you decide.

Time will tell I guess.... I have a feeling though that the terrorists are not as dumb as we would like to believe - terrorism is, afterall, a Darwinian process.

Satelites and Drones just help you see a little better.

They cant stop Guerillas from operating succesfully.

Only the man on the ground can do that.

As for their "tactic" theres no real way to stop it. Thats the thing about Guerilla warfare. Unless you have your own Guerillas you have to fight on their terms.

I would call denying them the use of a lot of electronic gear and forcing them to live in fear and huddle in caves to avoid crazy satellites and unmanned missile carrying drones a fat lot of good.
Just sayin'. :D

Yeah, good point :) But, in terms of this topic, not really pertinent?
