Here are some of the small arms used in our armed forces:
http://elektron.tmf.bg.ac.yu/user/bojan/inf/rifles/m70/7.62mm_m70b1_m70ab2_01.jpg
The M-70AB2 which is "standard" rifle of our army is an folding stock version of the M70 series of assualt rifles which derive from Russian AKM rifles. The M70 series rifle's are the most superior version of the AK type ever produced due to strengthened receiver and higher quality manufacture. They still retain the same 7.62x39mm round. The cover seen on the M70 series of rifles that are over the gas tube are actually I beleive for aiming of rifle-grenade? ratko?rsk? :D These rifles were developed in 1970's for the JNA by Zastava arms. They were widely used around balkans wars and kosovo. Many remain in service of former yugo states, especially SCG where it is still official rifle of armed forces and other security organs of the governemnt including police where it is used as a back-up weapon. :D (just like shotgun in north america). These rifles are very reliable and will probably remain in service for at least another decade until replaced by something new. (M-21?)
here are some more pictures:

http://elektron.tmf.bg.ac.yu/user/bojan/inf/rifles/m70/7.62mm_m70ab2_03.jpg M-70AB2 is very compact when folded and can be fired and reloaded from this position making it a very good gang or drive-by weapon. :)

GREAT PHOTOS! GOOD Collection!

Now you sure can see the resemblence on the Iraqi Tabuk, as compared to the Zastava rifles!

I have not seen the M-72AB2 in use? Just the M-72B1. Interesting too, is the AK-74 type muzzle brakes on the newer production M-80/80A!

On another thread, of Macedonian forces in Iraq, they were using the
M-95A.

The flip up sight above the gas mechanism is indeed for 'mine tromblonske' (RLG's) as is the barell extension seen replacing the normal muzzle brake on some photo's.

The M72AB2 is in service.

I am not sure, but those reflex sights in your pics look very similar to the Israeli made Multipurpose Aiming Reflex Sight or what’s better known as the ITL MARS (http://www.isayeret.com/optics/mars/mars.htm)

Here are a few pics of the Israeli ITL MARS in the IDF…….

So in your pics there, is it in fact the ITL MARS or some kind of clone of it?

i'm curious if the scope need adjusting after disassembling??In my opinion - yes. This receiver cover is a movable element and it is nearly impossible always fits in exactly the same position.

In my opinion - yes. This receiver cover is a movable element and it is nearly impossible always fits in exactly the same position.

Yes but ther is a difference between Zastava and other AK famili members - the cover is attached to the reciver by a pin - so it has better base then in other AK rifles..from the other side those are still stamp parts so they can''t be very precision.

Well, mauser is doing hunting rifles with change-able barrels which doesnt need adjusting after changeing but it is a difrent story and difrent quality.
