for once you think China could come up with their own plans for military equipment.....................

Why waste time and money on developing something from scratch when you can just borrow proven technology? I'm not being sarcastic either. Everyone likes to complain about China "stealing" or copying military technology from the West. We should be flattered! It means that they know that we have great equipment, and they want to have great equipment as well. It also cuts down immensly on development time and costs. I say more power to them.

^^ I understand why they would do it, it just gets old seeing the same stuff of ours remade into something for themselves.

Are they allowed to just copy stuff like that by law? I doubt it AM General gave them a production licence.

they arent allowed they just dont care - on her last visit in china Angela Merkel (chancellor of gemany) tried to talk them out of just copying technology that other nations spend a lot of mony to develop...

Unfortunately, Chinese is allowed to copy in the above two cases, I mean, they cooperate with the original manufacturers by importing some important parts from the latter. :)

They're not allowed to torture and 'silence' dissidents either, but they do it.
Which nation has ever cared for international law when it didn't serve their interest? p-)

copying is the first stage of becoming technology independent. the japanese copied, the russians still copy, and the koreans copy. eventually the domestic capacity for engineering and manufacturing catches up and they make there own stuff and original designs.

Everyone copies a good design to evolve their own industry. Russians, Americans, Chinese, whatever.

I agree with the first part but Russians still copy? When's the last time you saw a copied design? The Tu-4 is a copy of the B-29 yes, and the T-34 used a Christie chassis (but I think they bought it, not sure) and there have been copies here and there but I can't agree that they "still" copy.
btw Buran Shuttle doesnt count. It looks the same internals are different, Same with Tu-160.

Tell that to Americans when they "stole" Nazi's rocket and aeroplane technologies. Tell that to Russians when they "stole" engine technologies from British and conveniently made a copy for their MiG-15.
Tell that to Israelis when they "stole" the blueprint of Mirage.
Trust me, industrial spy still exists these days and is not fundamentally a Chinese product.

Actually they copied a civilian version. Fording thingy is missing from their copy.
And yes, tech spying is a big thing, probably more than anything. Private corporations spy on each other too.

Hardly, time were tough, those scientists were out of a job, so we gave them one. Plus, we did win a war against a certain a country, spoils of war, don't be so bitter you never had the chance.

That mercedes truck is a joint venture. Several thousand were ordered and are produced in China. The HUMVEE is a copy. Who cares, from now on, all firework based products is copying the chinese. The US must design a new technology to shoot bullets. The Italians copied heaps of Chinese foods and so on, who cares. Such is life.
