Abrams still better armored and have better penetration abilities of it HEAT and SABOT at distances about 2000 meters, more advanced electronics.

T-90 is more reliable in harsh conditions, have a lot of counter measures (Arena, Drozd, Kontakt-5 ERA, lower profile and so on) and employs missile weapons to reach target at distances about 5 km.

Also T-90 is two times cheaper.

Russia does not need the T-90 tank.
Its 5000+ T-80's are fine and T-90 is purely meant for exports.
Russia is working on another tank for its own needs.

it still has 125mm gun that shoots not scaled ammo and its ammo magazine is under turret so if it blows up whole turret lerns how to fly :/
and western tanks (chaly2 will have it soon) have 120mm scaled ammo guns and they magazines of ammo are in turret in difrent comparment so when they blow up only ammo magazine goes f* and crevs survives
But as you said it has Arena and others (btw it has Shtora system?) and its little bit lower and smaller than western tanks...
and scaled ammo means that SABOT can be longer and can penetrate more armour... also i dont know if they upgreaded systems that control stability of gun because on T72 where veeery ****ty and gun while dynamic driving and shooting wasn't precise... (but prabably they did because T72 is old design)

but if the ammo will blow up, as you know there are a lot of defence systems, so try to get through then and then ammo might blow up.

Ammo exploding was and still is a major problem, but they made T-90 much more safer then other T models ;)

Not all ammo is stored in rear turret in western tanks... they still have some ammo in the hull...
