Can't be that hard to find them, with their tatoos and flashing their gang signs at every oportunity they can get to.

What is really really dangerous, is not just that they learn military tactics, but when they get back with another item in their already screwed up head; namely PTSD. These guys are not just loose cannons on the deck, they will be insanly dangerous on the streets.

I understand that not all gang members are tatted up, and as overtly gang-ish as you describe, Gangs are actually keeping members "clean" so that they can join, and progress through ranks.

I'm going to call either bullsh!t or fanciful exaggeration on this one. Several years subject to military discipline and authority to learn to shoot a rifle at someone else?

People who have been in gangs have probably joined the military. People have probably joined gangs after leaving the military. People joining the military to learn "skills" for gang warfare? Please...

Maybe a few deluded individuals tried this. Somebody must have seriously mislead the poor bastards about what they would spend most of their time in the military doing.

Clowns or not, he killed and injured policemen with military precision.
There are very good reasons why people should be concerned about this.
The last thing what we need is some a traumatised war veteran gangmember with special forces training:fork: .

Blablabla, they would sell their grama for a crappy story. Anyway, who serves in the US military? Definitely not the kids from George W's IVY League posse, so what does one expect?

Some states had at one time had a jail or military service policy for juveniles.

12 people in my boot camp company alone were on this program mostly from New York. Many of them felt being in the military was a good opportunity to clean up, learn a trade and get a new life outside of the Bronx.

For many young people in the military, they grow up and mature. Many stay on for a lifetime career, many leave and get on the GI Bill for a career.

In all life happens. Many get married, have kids and have mortgages and rent to pay. I doubt there is time for gang activity at this point.

Good to see that it's not just the "liberal media" beating up on soldiers, when this first happened they were saying how messed up the guy was after coming back from Iraq, and now he's just a remorseless killer ****up.

oh please... Gang members joining the military JUST to get combat training? My ass...

thugs, criminals, and hoodlums ALREADY have a bad time with authority, they would be in bootcamp for 3 hours and then jump ship. Besides, you can get "military" or "tactical" style training anywhere. There are many organizations that train people on how to effectivly use firearms (the blackwater facility for instance).

This sort of thing ceased to be a problem by the time the recruit was permanently stationed, at least back in the '80's, when I was in the Army. No one ever accused soldiers or Marines of being cerebral, did they?

you would be suprised by the number of low-life "gangstas" that are stuck with a military career.

I think our Defense Department have lost their minds. They are basically providing military training to thugs who will use that training on the street and the Defense Department will make their quota.

The gang is above all else, including your unit and the Corps. I have heard this on the street first hand, the Hispanic community, and it's the new big thing. Get military training on tax payers dime.

I want the military who knowingly recruit known gang members and once discharged, if those gang members commit a crime or murder based on military training, I want the Defense Department liable in the form of a lawsuit. I'm not a big fan of ACLU types but the safety of family is above recruiting quotas.

I don't agree. I don't know how in-depth criminal investigations are for joining, since I'm a pretty clean guy. But, if there was a way to find out if they were gang members, why not give them dishonorable discharges?

Easy there trigger. First off while this is a problem ,and there are individuals taking advantage of the training I think you're over dramatizing just a bit w/the whole acces to Spec ops training. If you're doing objective research, you'd know that that aspect of the military requires a more than rigorous selection process. Let alone extensive screening of one's background.Afik, noone w/priror felony convictions is even allowed to enlist let alone be a candidate. Some of the btdt/mods like Deuterium, matchanu, chops and such can confirm or deny. Training to do the job, which is eliminating enemy threat, yes. Special ops is pushing it though. Once you learn the skills ,they're yours forever. Are they supposed to just look into the magic light and forget? Besides, whose to say they won't be more matured and have an appreciation for living ang life as adults when they get out? I doubt that those coming from even the worst hood's would want to go through the hell of war only to end up in a cell or dead at home. Although there are the inevitable exceptions. Let's just not lump those in sf with this shyte....

I learned basic combat drills and tactics like 'slicing the pie' from all the first person shooters i play (no, not quake, proper ones), and the very interesting videos posted on sites like these.

Does this make me dangerous as well? No, cuz in Holland i cant get a gun.

The problem with the USA is that every idiot can get his hands on a weapon like this 'deadly SKS assault rifle', and not the fact that gangbangers can take military training.

Note: those gangbangers seem proper grunt material to me: they're though, used to violence and have mucho ego. Maybe re-introduce suicide squads? Like 'if you accomplish and survive this mission youll record will be swiped?'-kinda stuff.

Note2: did anyone noticed the online-game America's Army? Its quite realistic (for a game), and is sponsored by the US army to recruit personel.. i wonder if the folks from Al-Quada downloaded it (its free!) and use it as an interactive introduction course on US tactics?

So since we have conscription and pretty much every single male has a military training... all our criminals are frikkin dangerous compared to US gang bangers? After all, we all know how to fire bazooka and make things go boom.

Yes you can. But perhaps it's better if you don't.
