I think this rifle could have and still can work. Update the look from the 80's mockups using G36 style cosmetics etc. It could even be part of the G36 line under a different name. It would definitely need a new sighting system. For me, the selling point is the new ammunition and not so much in the computer sight.

I don't get why you say it needs to be brought back?

Exactly. I mean why would we even need it.

where did i say we needed it? it says it needs new sighting but thats true because they never finished the computer aiming system. I just think it'd be cool to see if the 9x90 rounds work and have a new Hk rifle.

Doesn't everyone?
Not I. They are nice guns but it comes down to preference.

yeah, i have a friend who gets jumpy when he's near an M1 garand and another who loves anything FN. The F2000 and P90 are nice but i'd stay G36

Doesn't everyone?
No. Plenty of guns out there that do the same thing.
Are they well made? Sure. Are they any better than SiG, FN, Colt, et all? Nope.
Do they have their own distinctive style? Sure, but then so does every other major firearms manufacturer.

Back on topic...
THere is absolutely no need to bring the WSG2000 to production. There are plenty of rifles that do it better or as well that this gun (which is not battle tested) claims it can do...most of which can be made for a whole lot less.
And no, you could not simply mate this up with a G36...

I don't really see the need either. It's a nice concept but suffers from the same shortcomings the G11 does: Too much love for the technic, too little love for the shooter. I don't want to be the ass cleaning the hydraulic recoil dampening system. And from the mere specs you can imagine this baby will cost a lot...
And in the end of the day it can't do much an AW in .338 can't do.

yeah, i'm startin to agree that it wouldn't be practical to build this, but i was mainly hoping they'd finish the ammunition.

trivial situations? It's a round that could possibly out perform the .50bmg. I'd like to shoot farther or more accurately if I can.

The last thing ANY military needs these days is ANOTHER caliber in their logistics footprint.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Sort of like the whole XM8 project. OICW went belly up because of weight issues and other headaches like the fuseable grenade.
So, they claimed the XM8 was the next end all be all rifle...forget the fact that it would be replacing one existing, working 5.56 platform with another and a complete waste of money.
We have all sort of .50BMG, 20mm, and 25mm rifles to chose from....that work and are KNOWN to work.
