city of Pripyat

It was evacuated in 30 hours after the explosion at Chernobyl reactor.
People had leave everything in the city, due to radiation.

The city remains there, just like it was 18 years ago.

The team who's developing STALKER went there couple of times, and took some sweet photos.

My friend who is an art director for the game tolled me that the silence in the city is the worst of all. Inside the buildings everything is just like it was left in 1986.

Vehicle cemetery next to the city. All the vehicles were used to cover the plant with dirt and water. A village near the city was burried completely.

So, the city is still a ghost town even to today?

Yes

it will remain forever a ghost town.

The officials don't want to destroy it (funding, radiation)

Its empty, and will remain like this forever as a reminder of what happened.

There is been some looters in the past, but a lot of them are having some serious cancer now.

I bet it is one of the most creepy and weird things one person can witness.The silence of a whole city, just like a terror film.Sometimes reality really goes beyond fiction.

I think this city will be living agin but not in nex 50yrs maybe in 100 or so look at hiroshima or nagasaki both are now full of ppl.

THis place isn't dead, take a look at buildings, looters took care about glow-tubes, metal parts, doors, car parts from the wreckage etc :).
I also heard that you can buy mushroms and berys from chernobylian woods on local markets.....

Four eared cats are born everywhere cats live, this isn't proof for anything... Frome my knowledge situation in Chernobyl looks much beter than protrayed here, and also long term impact of accident was much lower than foresaw...AFAIK walking there is quite safe for not pregnant adult people, wild animals(cows, horses left there without care) have quite good health and they are not going to die or mutate in some ugly monsters. New born trees are even few times more resistant to radioactivity than those wich were born before accidents...Nature is much stronger than some pinko-leffit-greens think...

Yes nature recovers very fast but human can destroy it much faster than nature can recover

Na human can't destroy nature, he can destroy himslef some species, families or even rows, but there are bacterias imunne to radiation, great temperatures lack of oxygen, or lack of light so life on that planet has full varanty of surviving untill our sun will burn down and our planet became frozen piece of bazalth...

Turists & Looters, the photos were found in that dog after he choked to death when eating cameraman hand holding camera....

Wouldn't you probably be leaving in quite a haste after a nuclear reactor exploded near your town? Plus, it's not like things in homes have been left completely untouched.
