I've posted a new video on militaryvideos.net; here's the description:

Unrehearsed, impromptu talk about how to deal with doublefeeds and failures to extract on the AR-15/M-16 weapon platform. Immediate and remedial action drills are covered.

Thanks for the educational material. Fortunately, I haven't had any malfunctions of any kind on my AR. My RRA eats anything you feed it; but, I'm not shooting it in any sort of harsh environment whatsoever.

SPORTS

You get to do this a lot when using 20 rounders and firing blanks. It realy sucks when you are about to open a can of woopass on some unexpecting goodguys and all you hear is the click of the hammer falling because the weapon failed to feed the next round. They generaly don't notice you because of the SPORTS, they hear the cursing that ensues during the procedure.

During a firefight a GySgt yells at me "hey...give me your M4"

His weapon had jammed up severely. It worked out for me, I passed mine off to him and took an AK from one of the ANA guys.

Don't know what caused the jam, we had been moving a lot over rough terrain. Just got dirty and jammed up. We had to take the upper receiver off and use a gerber to get bolt to slide back.

That had to be a ****ty feeling... bang bang click

It's a whole lot easier to follow two simple procedures.

1. Tap Rack bang.

should that not work,
2. Unload, reload.

SPORTS is essentially the same thing, unfortunately its a lot of info to remember that equates into, unload and reload.

Nice vid, just pissed me off how the guy was mumbling half the time... A lot of the 'mumbling' came from the fact that the camera would drown out what I was saying anytime something loud happened. Any mechanical noises from the rifle muted my speech, that's most noticeable when I'm demonstrating the "three slingshots" thing and you can see me saying "One, two, three" but not actually hear anything aside from the weapon noise. Combine that with the fact that it was a very impromptu, unrehearsed, spur-of-the-moment thing (I wasn't even thinking of cutting it into an instructional video at the start), and you get what you see. I might go back and actually plan it out and do a better video sometime in the future. Glad you liked it aside from the mumbling issue.

Don't know what caused the jam, we had been moving a lot over rough terrain. Just got dirty and jammed up. We had to take the upper receiver off and use a gerber to get bolt to slide back. Did you guys try the old "yank on the charging handle while banging the stock against the ground" trick? I've never had a rifle jam up bad enough to require such action, thankfully, so I couldn't tell you if it works - just that it's the recommended course of action according to some sources.

SPORTS is essentially the same thing, unfortunately its a lot of info to remember that equates into, unload and reload. Agreed. I was never fond of SPORTS or SPORS (for pistols), the process itself is simpler than the number of words used to describe those acronymns.

Great vid, although there was something wrong with the dude's mustache though... Ha, hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out. I'll blame it on lighting and the video's size, as it looks normal on the source footage.
Here's a much cleared example of said mug. (http://dslyecxi.com/images/ofp/ofp_face_example.jpg)

As long as I'm here, you guys might also be interested in looking at pictures from a machinegun shoot I was on Okinawa in 2005. You can find them here: http://picasaweb.google.com/dslyecxi/OkinawaMachinegunShoot
