Is there any new info on the semi-auto shotgun? I was wondering when they would make it to the market, cause I want one damnit...

I am talking about the one with features the new magwell and leaves the bolt open after the last round.

what country are you in? if you're in the states we have a thriving after market community. tony rumore at tromix in particular turns out out some incredible pieces.

i have a saiga 12 that's waiting for a conversion, but in the long run the shotgun i'm holding out for is the vepr 12.

I live in CH, so that limits things a bit. The Saiga I am talking about is this thing : http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=5687&pid=47770&mode=threaded&show=&st=&#entry47770

it seems to look alot like the vepr 12, which is very interesting...

Am I just too retarded to use google properly or is there really not much info?

There seems to be only couple of picatinny rails and a flash suppressor added to a normal Saiga-12. You can get a very similar weapon already, and buy the picatinny and suppressor from elsewhere.

if it was just the rails and flash suppressor, I wouldnt care and just get the normal Saiga-12, but it has a new magwell and leaves the bolt open after the last shot(I dont remember if the old saiga-12 does that).

I just remember the one time I was messing around with the saiga12, that sticking a fresh mag into the saiga on a closed bolt was a pain in the butt and you know that zombies dont take a cigarette break when you need to reload...

Ah. I see, not the same gun at all then. Normal Saiga doesn't leave bolt open after last shot, but the bolt can be manually locked open which isn't a very good alternative.

the bolt open catch is a $100 modification. i have one on my saiga. if your already familiar with that forum look for some of tony rumore's postings and you'll find it. if you practice you ak mag changes you can live without the mag well. i'm not sure you want a rail on the top cover of an ak, especially one firing 12 gauge rounds, i'd either go with a side mount and install a cobra or mill down the rear sight and weld on a rail right where the rear sight would have been. i have such a setup on an ak-47 with an aimpoint and it works really well. pm me your email and i'll send you some pics.

here's a link to a forum with a discussion on the vepr-12:

don't get me wrong, i love my saiga but i want to try out the stiffer rpk reciever.

Thanks for the replies, I guess there isnt too much info out there on the new Saiga, but from what I can see on the pics, the saiga swat seems to be pretty much the same as the vepr-12 just another rail and a different stock. They both look good, but thats secondary to me.

I just remember that reloading a Saiga-12 with the closed bolt was a pain, because the shell in the mag portuded and you had to squish it against the bolt to get it in, which didnt make things easy, its not something you can do with one hand... I have no problem with rock and lock mags, since its what I have used the most.

They are not coming. ATF said no-go on the form 6. But they gave the nod to the Vepr version. The downside is that it will only be available to other dealers or agencies. Their rules, sorry.

AND yeah, they do excellent work. Buddy of mine just got one a bit back after the Feds signed off on it. Its the SBR with a bird cage and hi-cap mags...

A VERY sexy gun.

Well, that sorta sucks, but considering I dont live in the US I guess I am ok. By that statement though, I assume both the new saiga and the vepr are somewhere close to production and are going to be "out there" soon.

Thanks for looking in, but I wasnt asking about a modded saiga-12 but a entirely new saiga... My google skills might be weak, but not that weak.

Woops, made the same mistake Jippo did...

Yeah, I have not heard anything about the SWAT model.

I've never had the problem with inserting the mag though.

no worries, I should make a point of expressing myself more coherently.

I am gonna try to ask in the store tomorrow and see if he knows something, I dont wanna buy the "old" saiga and find out that an "improved" version is out tomorrow... so I am gonna wait anyhow, I am just curious to how long I gotto wait.

So you didnt have any problems changing mags on a closed bolt? did you buy it that way, was it modded so it would work? just curious...

One was a smithed Tromix 12 ga NFA (SBR). The other was a stock .410.

The Tromix was just shortened, a folding stock added, and the barrel threaded and a flash suppressor placed on it. Nothing was done to change how the bolt and magazine interacted.

I think that's what you are asking me...
