up til I was 20 years old I dident have serious hangovers. I did have hangovers but not the cripeling kind you get when you get older..
Im not kidding within a week of my 20th birthday I would throw up the morning after a night out. It started like clockwork...
So now its monday night and I was out saterday on a real "allnighter"
and im still hung over and pretty worthless 2 days later!!!!
So for the question?
Does it get worse when you turn 30 and even worse when you turn 40?
Does the hang over extend to 3 days at 30 and possibly (the horror..) 4 days at 40?
Any input by valid age group will recive an asperin
I'm twenty-seven and hangovers are no different to those I used to get at seventeen.

My hangovers are a nightmare. A session could last say, 6 hours, but the hangover could last 12 hours. Wtf? Depression, tiredness, nausia, lack of apetite, headache, vomiting, dehydration and memory loss. And next wkend i am back at the bar...

If I hammer a bunch of water and make sure I get a little food in my stomach before I go to bed my hang overs are much lighter.

You pvssy....
Come back when you reach 36hours+++
Either that or you should try mixing your intake of different types of alchohol more.
Try: 5-6 beers, 1 whisky, half a litre baccardi, 5 shots of jægermaister. then hit the town, leave your visa card in the bar and go for broke with whisky on the rocks and the occasional mixed drink..
Im dizzy while writing this... for craps sake.. Every week the same

I drank for about three hours (shots, beer, tons of liquor then more shots) with no food in my stomach. I started around 11 pm and stopped at 2am . I threw up a little(very little) only because I decided in all my wisdom to come back to my friends dorm and lay flat on my back on the floor after dancing for 2 hours straight with no water in me . The next day I woke up with only a very dry mouth and I was thirsty as hell but I had no hangover. Im 20 years old by the way.

Me and the lads had a wkend in Edinburgh a couple of years ago where we all suspected we had had our drinks spiked cos we had all the symptoms i described above. Some of the guys took days off work to recover. Well it was during the Rugby WC, and we were drinking guiness at 9am, if you bought 6 pints of guiness you got a stoopid hat. At the end of the match, we all had hats.

I have a serious problem (joking), because when I get drunk I refuse to get tipsy I always seem to want to get so plastered I don't remember a thing. My friends told me I was asleep on small streetno cars passing) for about 5 minutes until someone woke me up and took me back in the party where I drunk like 5 more shots of a tequila.

I used to never get a hangover when I was younger..and I would pound beers, get 2 hours of sleep, go to work like it was nothing and do it all over again...but now, I've noticed that I get the worst hangovers, where I think I can actually feel my liver trying to kill itself...I never puke, but I feel like ass for atleast 2 days..so in my experience my hangovers have gotten worse..I'm sure this is because I don't drink near as much as I did when I was 21, so my body is just not used to it..but hangovers are a bitch now...but yet it doesn't stop me from throwing back 10 or 12 beers, which I will be doin tonight...so I'm sure I'll be worthless tommorow and the next day...

$170 on drinks in Norway, so how many did that get you like 2?
I have a friend that lives in Olso and says that going out for drinks is so expensive, many people don't even go out.

try 9$ at least at more classy clubs..
if we say a gallon is 4 litres a gallon of gas her is currently: 7.85488 $
But about 10-12 drinks for about 160$ but add about 16$ in cover charge for the more classy places

One of the few gems of wisdom my father passed along to me when I was a young man half my current age, "The hangovers get worse as you get older".
I am 35 going on 36. Hangovers for me now are much worse than when I was 25, or 30, hell, they are worse than when I was 34!!
Luckily for me I don't drink that much anymore. On the few occaisions when I have more than a few social drinks I am pretty much useless the next day.
Hangovers are very different from individual to individual, maybe for you it will get worse, maybe not.
Of course, if you stay drunk all the time then you will never be hung over, I sort of remember trying this once or twice in the past but strangely enough I do not remember any details of whether or not this method actually works.

If you're going out on the lash make you sure you take some cimetidine tablets first. Cimetidine induces hepatic microsomal enzymes responsible for metabolizing ethanol so you clear it out of your system quicker.
Eat before going out!:)
Dont' mix drinks too much. Generally lighter drinks contain fewer hangover inducing esters.
Drink water before going to bed.
Drink isotonic sports drinks as soon as you get up for rapid rehydration.
Have a full English breakfast. Works for me!:)
my hangovers havent been as bad since i have gotten older...course i dont drink as much now either

I never get hungover anymore due to the fact that I a) never drink that much anymore, b) drink milk and protein powder and/or multivitamine before I crash, and/or c), go girly and puke it up.

signatory
07-05-2006, 03:27 AM
dunno.. but I think the key here is to not ever stop drinking.
I suppose when people get older they don't get party as often and the body is more 'detoxicated' between every heavy drinking campaign... so it's more of a shock to the system than when you routinely drink all the time :)

The hangover pretty much stays the same, it's just that as you get older you get more wise as to how to avoid them ie. making sure you have a nice meal before going on the proverbial bender, throwing down some tylenol and a big glass of water before collapsing in bed, avoid mixing types of alcohol or just by simply pacing yourself, not power-drinking.

Don´t mix your alcohol groups. Dont mix whisky and Vodka or Schnaps. If you drink beer, stick to beer and maybe a couple of chasers.
Great way to get blasted- Sangria, but get a good wine otherwise you will get a headache (which is easily cured by an aspirin).
That s pretty the basic Do´s and dont´s as learned in my fraternity

If you can remember that after spending a whole night drinking, you have to drink a huge glass of water before you go to bed to rehydrate your body, then you'll never have a hangover anymore.

The defence of Australia in safe hands.
But I have to admit, hangovers have been getting increasingly worse as I've gotten older. 16-18 yrs old I never had an issue. I could knock back as many drinks as I'd like, get home at 4am, and wake up at 8am all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed.
2 years later and it's a different story. This weekend I smashed out 15 pots of Carlton in my first hour, and then kept going steady the rest of the night. I wasn't totally gone, but I felt pretty f*cked for the rest of the day. :-(

My hangovers are not any worse than they used to. The only difference is that I can keep drinking whole night and so it takes a bit longer to get back normal. Yesterday I was trying to get some hamburgers (and beer but they would not sell me) at 7 a.m at a local gas station. I only remember eating 3 cheese burgers and french fries and then shouting as loud as I could to someone drive me home. Lucky for me some nice guy (not the police) actually drove me back and I did not even get raped, mugged or robbed :):):)

I tought same thing till i had those lil dwarves in my head with pickaxes. I think main problem is that i can drink much longer and have not enough time to burn all this alcohol especialy when they got habbit to end parties earlier than during my teenage time. If i go to sleep while i am still drunk its hungover x3.

Only way not to get a hangover is not to drink. Anyone drinking enough strong alcohol will dehydrate and get a hypoglycemia and therefore feel at least a bit bad.

Drink decent alcohol. Good cognac or some sheеty vodka makes a big difference in the morning that is if you are not mixing it.
Also the old Russian “anti-hangover” medicine – in the morning, drink some juice of salted cucumbers.
To answer the initial question:
At 20 you party all night and the next day you look like you had a good sleep.
At 35 you party all night and the next day you look like you partied all night.
At 50 you sleep all night and the next day you look like you partied all night.

Hi,
I'm 28 now
Until exactly 1 year ago I was able to drink alot (never goin drunk to puke but a lot impaired in walking).
I drank especially while eating at restaurant: wine or beer and then liquor until mildly impaired but no problem: after some hours I was ready and functioning without any sign of hangover.
Then, 1 year ago, this happened: after a drink 1/2 liter (a pint?) of wine plus several shot of a strong Lemon liquor (all at the restaurant) I barely drived my scooter to a friends' house where they offered me homemade grappa.
I stayed dazzled* for hours while we watched a film,
then gone to bed. I awake nauseated with headaching and dazzled thinking "wow, it must be some minutes that I am on bed because I feel bad", suddenly the clockalarm rang: 07:00 AM!!
From this night, whenever I drink until a mild dazzle is guaranted a serious hangover on the morning. Also the alcool threshold I can drinkg is seriosly lowered before drunkness.
dazzle/dazzled = with "rotating head" like when u stop turning like a dervisci dance...sorry for my english

When I was in my late teens and early 20's, it was easy going out and getting blind on dollar drinks with my uni friends. Come home so drunk, throw up... Get a few hours sleep and to work on friday morning. Any sickness was gone by 12.
Now near 30, there is no way I could do that. Recovery takes much longer and you feel so drained after a big night.

I realized that my body reacts different to alcohol than before at 25/26. I used to be able to drink all kinds alcohol in shambles, but that canged. I realized that I could not handle vodka anymore; I was turning very aggressive, did not realize anymore when I reached a certain point (where I would normally stop drinking) and tended to blackout. Now I don't drink vodka anymore, nearly don't drink hard stuff anymore. The only stuff harder than beer or wine is my occasional shots of Ramazotti (or Jägermeister, but only when I'm drugged up ;-) )
I stick to my beer, I can drink my 12 - 15 Becks on a night out drinking with my friends. When I manage to get sth to eat later on, I nearly don't have a hangover.

I had far more devastating bouts of drunkeness before the age of 30 than after... mainly because I was far less self-confident and far more into bombing the hell out of myself when alcohol was around.
Go out to bar? Destroy myself with booze. Go to a party? Destroy myself with the booze. I finally got tired of not having the good sense of knowing when to stop... but at least I didn't become a total alcoholic.
Now, I just drink to relax and have fun... not get totally bombed.

Maybe because the good part of a bottle of Cougar, followed by a 4 pack of Carlsberg Special Brew (9%) isnt all that good for you.
