I think they deserve better than that, just because it's not Iraq or the Gaza Strip doesn't mean it's not important.

German media reports that yesterday German forces in Afghanistan engaged in a combat firefight with Taliban. It is supposed to be the first time after wwii that an exchange of fire was entered by German forces.
Does anybody of you guys out there have more info on the subject? I couldn't find much at the usual sources...

I know, but those were more or less hit-and-run fights (afaik), whereas yesterday's engagement lasted for over one hour.
I don't know whether these reports can be trusted or not, additional info would be great...

I know, but those were more or less hit-and-run fights (afaik), whereas yesterday's engagement lasted for over one hour.
I don't know whether these reports can be trusted or not, additional info would be great...
saw it on n-tv breaking news (just a short hint, not a real contribution)...they sad german isaf-soldiers were connected in a long and heavy firefight with "unidentified militia forces", further informations would follow. my opinion is that the government forces back all news about attacks and firefights in afghanistan. one example: the attacks last week. they confirmed it three days after the media wrote about it.

He's holding it correct for a right handed shooter, try holding a rifle with your left hand on the pistol grip and shouldering it on the right, that's what your describing.

Hey, thanks for correcting me. Never saw it someone holding it like that.

German media reports that yesterday German forces in Afghanistan engaged in a combat firefight with Taliban. It is supposed to be the first time after wwii that an exchange of fire was entered by German forces.
Does anybody of you guys out there have more info on the subject? I couldn't find much at the usual sources...

The first firefight after WW2 of german forces was "Opeation Libelle", March 1997, in Albania. Where around 100 civilans have been evacuated. (AFAIK that was a "task force" of PzGren, PzAufkl and of course Heeresflieger.)

^^ in fact the first time when a german soldier killed an enemy was in 1993, somalia. an armed unidentified man stormed into the german camp in belet huen. a guard shot him down after he hadnt reacted on the warning shots the guard fired before.

Yeah, normally the right hand is on the first grip, and the left hand on the front grip.

Nope, that's the correct way of shouldering the RPG. Left hand on the back grip-pulling against the face, and right hand on triger grip for firing.

HEY! Thats my old Btn Cmdr!!!

Formerly known as LTC "The Viper" Vines!

The entire 4th Bat 325 AIR would have followed that man out the bird on a mass attack into Hell without a moments hesitation.

And we did follow him to the Gulf the first time around when 4/325 AIR was DRF-1 on 08.09.90.

Excellent.

Whats with Americans and having people always in the background for speeches and so on?

TallAl85

It shows unity, and people are more likely to agree with what someone is saying if there's lots of people stood around them. Or something like that. And its good for photos

I dont mean to offend anyone, just commenting.

Do other nations do this?

When I mean staged, the people behind are all a great demographic selection and so on. I have nothing wrong with having crowded around someone and the like, but I just get this questionable thinking when I see this done.

Channel 4: 'Look how brave this brave warrior of Allah, resist against the Hordes of the Zionist Entity. Allah shall punish them for the crimes they committed.
