I'm almost positive this is NOT SASR.

I think it was taken during an exercise in the 1990's between RAN Clearance Divers & USN UDT.

You know, if there's one thing I like about the French army it has to be the boots they wear. They look respectable, but I've heard that they are not that good if you buy them used...

What do you expect? They are used.
Never buy used boots.
When you "walk" them in(new shoes), they are meant to be shaped after your foot, not your neighbour.

You know, you are absolutely right about it. I've never bought used boots, but there's a sale in a shop here that has the French boots for 10 freakin' Euros.

The price is more than welcoming, but I guess they would give you more trouble than benefit on the long run.

What kind of a reply is that?? It was supposed to end up in a flame war were we would argue about the benefits of used boots and new ones. And then some Russians could jump in and flame the living daylight out of us telling why their fish skin shoes are way better, even after being passed from father to son for 19 generations and how Serb shoes are customized to fit in the groin of muslims and at the end this thred was supposed to be locked, and, and.
But you ruined everything by saying that I was right.

Although 10 Euros is not much cash. Sounds like those boots would be a nice
addition to any military geeks uniform collection. Personally I have a couple
of boots in my collection that I would never walk a meter with, even though all
items in my collection "fits me". The worst piece of **** must be the Swedish
army boots from the 60´s. They are really hard, made out of rubber and not very
high, looks more like shoes than boots, and their grip must really suck as well.

And 10 Euros surely is not that much money.

Just noticed that if you're a gear head or knife collector, khukuris run about $100-$300 if you search knife companies in the US. Most are just tactical look-a-likes with black powder coating and rubber grips.
Go to http://www.thekhukurihouse.com/ if you want to order from Nepal the more traditional genuine article. Prices run @ +/- $30!!!
