Polish police working with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have shut down a neo-Nazi website and charged a man suspected of running it.

The suspect was arrested in the southern Polish city of Bielsko-Biala.
The website published details of people on its hate list - such as left-wing activists, homo******s and members of ethnic minorities, police said.

The website was operated by the Polish wing of a group known as Blood and Honour. It used a US-based server. The suspect, identified only as Mariusz T, 31, was charged with inciting hatred.

The website urged its followers to collect information about "persons engaged in anti-fascist and anti-racist activities, on coloured immigrants, on left-wing activists and sympathisers and on the homo****** and paedophile lobby", police said. The blacklist also included photos and sometimes phone numbers and addresses. Police said they began investigating the website in February.

"We worked together very well," Polish police officer Marek Bienkowski said about the co-operation with the FBI, quoted by the AFP news agency.

The website was hosted on a server based in Arizona.
