Had to get it. The new models have the standard short rail. Had to shell out a couple hundred extra though because it was the only place that had it and I didnt want to wait.

Going test it out tomorrow afternoon.

That looks nice. I'm not sure what model it is. It doesn't by any chance be a Colt.45 right? If it isn't.....you have every right to abuse me. :)

Those are great. Only shot that model a few times but it's the Les Baer of SA's. Hope you enjoy it. Friggin' slide feels like it's riding on vinyl! Real tight.

you are a lucky man. I picked up a Springfield Armory 1911a1 GI model a few weeks ago, SA makes some great guns.

I mean, it even says Springfield Armory on the the damn slide.

But that is all I'll call you on. Not everyone is a firearm nerd.

This would be the Tactical Response Pistol or the TRP (seen on the back end of the slide). The stock TRP comes with wood grips and no rail.

This is the TRP with rail and "Armory Kote" which is Springfield's fancy way of saying black powder coat.

Nice gun †Seraphim†, congrats on the purchase. If you do not mind me asking, how much money did you spend on it? MSRP is close to 1700.00.

I'd like to own a Colt, they arent exactly the sexy thing down here but of the few I have fired they never had a problem assuming the ammo was new. One was a fvcking nightmare with reloads though.

Yes, but it was Colt that originally developed the cartridge and that's what it popularly referred to as - so give the boy a break.

Actually, Colt did not design EITHER the gun or the cartridge. John Moses Browning (*insert angelic trumpets from heaven here*) developed BOTH the cartridge AND the gun. Browning and Savage won the initial caliber and firearm test around 1906 or 1907 (I forget exactly when) Both the firearm and pistol Browning designed/developed were adopted in 1911. Then Colt got the contract to produce the first mass/issue run of pistols. By World War I both Colt and the (REAL) Springfield Armory were producing M1911s.

Most people refer to them as a M1911, .45ACP 1911, or simply a 1911, not a Colt 1911. When you say a "Colt 1911" you are saying a 1911 that was built by Colt.

AND I did give him a break and even said so in my original post ending the correction and further explaining what the gun was.

I am trying not to hijack the thread, yes it is Duracoat.

"Nice Seraphim, SA's are a fine choice."

I was actually responding to Durandel and it seemed to develop a life of it's own.

Springfield Armory makes nice pistols. I've had a 1911A1 for almost twenty years now (I got it when I was twenty years old, and had to ask my uncle to buy it for me), and have had a few custom parts added and gunsmithing done to it over the years. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Not at all, but its sort of like saying the 17th President of the United States was Teddy Roosevelt when in reality it was Andrew Johnson.

The statement is wrong.

Colt did not design the M1911. It was simply the first company to pick up the military contract to produce them.

Now, maybe you enjoy keeping the world ignorant, but as this is a military forum people should make correct statements, not false ones.

Of course, I could go around bitching about M9s and hi-cap mags like some...as if a single .45 round was enough to stop 14 dudes. p-)
