Good, now I see a new RCMP Tactical Unit. Looks professional. Perhaps a sub-unit specialising in CT Ops?

No.
Their a regular tactical team from F-Division. Probably brought in from Regina or Saskatoon.

I am sure that they can keep up with most ERT/SWAT, but lets face it, they don't have to train for any Federal CT tasks, because that is taken care of by the Military. So they would have similair task as any major city ERT.
If they are highly professional then that picture doesn't do them justice... Looks more like a militia unit ready to do some FIBUA. Of course if they were really worried about pitures at all they would not let some news paper break their opsec. But then again it happens to the best of us. Just not usually in a waiting area, but when there are more important issues at hand.
My two cents.

They are trained in federal CT. It is not taken care of by the military. Federal CT duties are left to the RCMP. This isn't the CT unit most likely to go up against a terrorist threat. This is most likely like I said, an RCMP tactical unit from somewhere in F Division (Saskatchewan).

CT stands for counter terrorist does it not? therefore thses guys theoretically wouldnt be CT as JTF2 and other mil units take care of that. The RCMP had qualms about the role played by CT so turned over the duties. I will look for the article.

The problem is : given the time necessary for a JTF2 team to mobilize, move to the location of let's say a siege/hostage taking by some terrorist crap, and actually being ready for an assault, you have to be aware that in many occasions, the local municipal ou provincial SWAT team (OOP or SQ) would be the first to respond and in some cases, the most likely to take action.
Canada is quite a big country.

Sorry but JFT2 is taking care of the CT in Canada... they received that little tasking from the Government... Canada is big but damn they have spec ops timewarp to travel fast!!!

RCMP are not in charge of federal counter terrorism... They lost that role in the early 90's to the Military... Thats why they do not have the SERT any more but ERT's. So Even Loyd, you are incorrect..... All Federal CT matters are in fact taken care of by JTF2. And it does no take them much time to mobilize.

??? Hwo do these guys look like reservists as opposed to any other bums that are greened up and sitting around waiting to do FIBUA?
The reg force doesn't spit shine their boots, trim their nose hairs and doff an ascot for FIBUA either.
I guess your unit has a FIBUA dress code. Is this what it loks like?

Well yes they do have a dress code, seeing as I come from the most anal regiment in Canada, But did I offend a toon out there?? Uh oh.... Seriously though, I don't think you need half of the stupid kit that they make you wear, and I think that SOF has it right when it comes to Dress and Deportment, However I was referring to the demeanour of the troops, not how they were dressed, but if I offended any of the militia rats out there, then I am sorry... You guys are so sensitive... Maybe you should have the pink rifles....
I was trying to see the Cap Badge on your profile Pic... Which one is that??? The Pumphandle Fusiliers? Or the Ecome/Secome Lighthouse brigade?
It's all in Jest man, Don't take the Mo bashing to seriously....

*Ahem* I've played both sides of the CF Toons and Soaps fence. Not whatever EvanLloyd is implying.
Evan: You'd be first in line anyhow.

Thats why we take our boot cleaning kits out with us in the field... But as I was saying, it was the demeanour not the uniforms... And although the Moustache ride is tempting, I think I'll pass.

I'm glad you will pass, trust me.
I have to talk to EvanLloyd about offering my 'stache rides to strangers, especially RCR ones.
