Just wondering if any of you firefighters know much about the firefighter apptitude test. Im going in for mine at the local department. I assume they just want to make sure you arent a total moron and can think straight.
Thanks

Brandon,
It depends on which sections they have you do. I've done a few and they've all been different. I'm almost certain that you'll have to do a hose drag. Most of the times, the hose will be charged. The key is to throw it over your shoulder, lean into it, and run. The hose will probably be flaked out so that it's easy in the beginning and gets harder as you go. You might have to do the Keiser Machine which simulates ventilating a roof. They key here is to make sure that you keep the "sled" at your heels. This allows for the best impact w/ the sledgehammer. A couple of other events that they like to throw in there is the ladder raise and the device carry. The devices can be a gated wye/hydrant adapter, a fire extinguisher, or similar device. If they have you do a stair climb, you might be able to skip steps going up, but have to hit all steps on the way down. Make sure you skip steps going up, this really reduces your time. If you call the department, they might give you what events you'll be doing. Let me know if you need any advice.
