This reminds me of an argument I read on a forum. This one guy was trying to convince people that Saving Private Ryan was a waste of film because something about their boots was innacurate and the uniforms were the wrong shade, or some other trivial b.s. which negated the rest of the movie.
I like pointing out movie mistakes as much as the next guy, but keep in mind they exist for entertainment and aren't intended to be taken as gospel (even The Da Vinci Code) so go easy on them.

what was wrong with that one Dave^^^ I never saw itThe uniforms were ridiculously wrong. One example: Sam Jackson wears two different ranks (E-4 then E-7) during the course of the movie, and it has nothing to do with the plot -- they just weren't paying attention. It's usually cited amongst me and my friends as an example of a military movie that couldn't get be bothered with getting things right. It wouldn't matter if it was a direct-to-video crapfest like "Delta Force Commando 7: Snake Force", but this was a big Hollywood movie with huge stars and a big-name director.

Everyone knows alledged military advisors and weapons trainers are on an overpaid vacation. Any military advisor with an actual military background, wouldn't waste time on unimportant matters, but focus on getting some trailer time with the lead actress. The uniforms can be oh so perfect, while the actor/director decides to override SOP and basic training, because the actor is more conserned with displaying their ability to 'understand' the person behind the soldier or do a roll through a doorway.
Who cares if she's holding the weapon up side down if you can get Julia Roberts to scream: 'You are a worthless maggot' wearing only a bandolier.

being a military movie, this forum is going to be a harsh critic generally speaking.
I liked the movie, even if it was really unrealistic (not just how they escaped from a rainshower of bullets near the end) but also little gun things like that scope that I probably wouldn't easily recognize. And the soundtrack was beautiful...better than the movie. :)
I started watching The Matador last night...got about 30 minutes into it. Don't know if I want to finish it, I was not impressed at all. I don't really care for Pierce Brosnan.

Can't really argue. But I'm a fan of Bruce Willis. Die Hard 1 & 3 are two of my favorite movies.

I can't get over the inaccuracies of Top Gun
1. The Russian "MiGs" were American made F-5s/T-38s. It just annoys me so much.
2. I don't believe the Navy has helmets customized to match callsigns
3. Walking in the hallways/elevator with nothing but a towel is bad form for an Officer. Get dressed dammit!
4. I thought I saw an officer wearing a Colonel/Captain's Eagle but it was gold not silver.
5. Don't Ask Don't Tell policy was never enforced.

It was not a good story, it was a contrived piece of sh*t. Guys on super secret clandestine missions just knock the whiny yet hot Dr. bitch out and take her home. Movie over. that's because of your time in the service and familiarization with weapons. it would be nice if there were more movies that were accurate down to such a point as cocked/uncocked weapons in a firefight, but there are not. i don't let something that small get in the way of me enjoying a good movie, though.
