Urban Camo Oversuit- Mesh suit designed to wear over regular uniforms with boots and load bearing vests. Note the special sewing on arms and legs for breaking up human form. It has openings to reach BDU pockets and pouches on the load bearing vest worn under the suit. Very light weight and Strong mesh matterial. The camo pattern is Universal Urban which blends with a wide variety of urban terrains as opposed to other urban patterns like CONCRETE or BRICK that are very effective but only for specific terrain.

Why hasn't Israel introduced a cammo uniform into general service for all troops?
Good question….I have already answered it in this Thread (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=197071&highlight=#197071)
here is a repost….
Nice post Ezra Coli :D
Don't the israelis ever think of switching to full camo uniforms?
Well in some units they do have them like here……
http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/nm/20040321/mdf500748.jpg
or like with the pics that pretorian669 has brought with Israeli camo BDU’s
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/Dsc03209.jpg
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/Dsc03208.jpg

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/Dsc03199.jpg
http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/GUNS/IMAG0010.jpg
But yes in general most units rely on the standard IDF OD BDU’s
Now yes perhaps some can argue that we should probably change though it’s at least in my opinion not as critical or that much of any issue as you might think.
I say that for now most of the IDF operations are centered around urban areas and as such the OD or switching to another doesn’t really matter.
Secondly even in surrounding areas of where units set up ambushes and things like that, the general colors scheme of the outlining areas isn’t as contrasting to the OD as you might think and OD works adequately in that terrain.
Not to mention the fact of the overall versatility in its adequate effectiveness in all of the different terrains that Israel has whereas some of the other camo BDU;s aren’t as versatile to adapt to certain terrains.
Anyways perhaps the IDF will change (and as has been mentioned before, we did get a lot of suplus U.S. BDU’s) though the only reason I can see that the IDF in general has not up to now fully adapted another BDU (except for a few select units) is due to budgetary constraints and limitations.
Anyways besides I am not even sure there is any need for it for most front line IDF combat infantry units each have these reversible camo suits (and use them when needed) that work excellent and in my opinion are the best in breaking up your outline which is what you want to do in camouflaging yourselves to the terrain.
A few examples are here……..
http://www.isayeret.com/camo/camo-7.jpg
http://www.isayeret.com/camo/camo-8.jpg
http://www.isayeret.com/weapons/micell/stinger/stinger-3.jpg
or a few select units even have these for urban operations….
http://www.isayeret.com/camo/camo-9.jpg
http://www.isayeret.com/camo/cam0-23.jpg
http://www.isayeret.com/units/civi/matilan/matilan10.JPG

http://www.isayeret.com/camo/camo-25.jpg
for a lot more info and pics, click here (http://www.isayeret.com/camo/personal.htm)
So while the IDF has some improving to do in the area of camouflage in general, it has certainly come along way and improved significantly as compared to even ten years ago.
Shalom :D btw the money reasons is my own speculation and its not any official reason so if I am not correct on it Id appreciate my self some clarification on it.

Yes I see your point on the camo, but I still feel its a great urban camo and here in the pic, and even in this setting, with all the huge rocks that are littered around, I can see this being mistaken for that.
Now I dont have personel exeperince with that perticular camo suit, and as such I am assuming but agian what I do know is that this unit is very respected and I am sure there is a good reason for thier use of this camo even in that setting.

Dear m203 . I told u once that I’m still in active duty so I won't go into details about where I serve or what I do. It’s my ninth year in the IDF. I served in two elite units. I'm here to learn and sometimes help others learn. I'm not in a bar trying to impress a lady. You should know that usually people who SPEAK don't DO and people who really DO never SPEAK. Trying to hurt my warrior ego won't help either. I WILL NOT VIOLATE OPSEC . But if it makes you feel better this is what I usually DO

Password:tommy669If you read what I wrote in Hebrew and understood it well I was in no way trying to hurt your warrior ego or anything like that and frankly it’s a shame that you reacted this way and in English when I addressed it in Hebrew for in no way did I characterize it the way you responded now.
I looked at your pics and a few things stick out clearly that made me question a few things and like I said before, I can be wrong and I apologized if indeed I am.
Also I was hoping to keep all this and about the IDF camouflage opinions private for I am a big believer in not spilling ones “garbage” out in public.
As for “people who speak don’t do”, well yes I agree with that phrase and if you notice, there are very few postings of me talking about my personal service in any great detail nor do I post many pictures of it even though I have hundreds of them in all sorts of situations. I like talking about the IDF in general, an organization I am most proud of, but getting personal or divulging any OPSEC info is something that I avoid and certainly getting personal with others I avoid as well and that is why I took it to a more private level with the Hebrew (well I did first write a few PM’s though with no answer).
Anyways continuing on will get us nowhere so I will leave it at this.
And about Camouflage. As someone who trained with units from other countries I can tell you we Israelis SUCK when it comes to effectively apply camouflage. We still have much to learn from others on that subject.
I actually agree with this somewhat.
All I would say is that we have come along way as it was even ten years ago (where without a doubt then we did SUCK)and yes camo isn’t our forte so to speak but in the type of region and terrain that we conduct most of our operations, at least IMO, those indigenous and ingenious camo suits are very adequate indeed.
But of course we can always use improvement.
Anyways Shalom to you :D

About camo, I have a very good personal friend who is developing and improving camo for IDF. And guess what, he still gets an 18$ monthly pension from Ukraine. Ex SPETZNAZ from the time Ukraine still belonged to the USSR .He is the main reason for improvement in IDF camo in the last years.

Look Dude the I.D.F. is not perfect. I know. I'm in it. The main reason we don't improve ourselves because we think we're so perfect. Well in some fields we're the best. But the first step in improving our weak sides is admitting when we SUCK.
Don't be mad at me I get a little touchy when it comes to OPSEC.

Ex SPETZNAZ from the time Ukraine still belonged to the USSR .He is the main reason for improvement in IDF camo in the last years. Is he the man responsible for those indigenous and ingenious camo suits?, for without a doubt that is a major qualitative improvement and one that certainly originated out of Israel!!!!
But yes in general, camo face paint application and other forms and applications of various camo in general can use more improvement in all ranks of the IDF
Look Dude the I.D.F. is not perfect. I know. I'm in it. yes it defiantly is not (I know for I served as well ;) )….if you can show me anything that is perfect well as the saying goes, I have a bridge for sale at a great price (or something like that ;) )
The main reason we don't improve ourselves because we think we're so perfect. Well in some fields we're the best. But the first step in improving our weak sides is admitting when we SUCK. well you are correct in the principle of improving by admitting and recognizing where we are deficient, though were me and you differ NOW is that I don’t feel that we SUCK in camouflage whereas before I as well would certainly say that we did.
I think we have improved BIG time as compared to before and I feel we are at least at a adequate level (and certainly some SF units are) though of course with certainly a need for more improvement (especially at the regular units level), though to say we now suck I feel is not being intellectually honest based on the actual improvements in recent years that has brought up the camo level and awareness to a much higher level.
Don't be mad at me I get a little touchy when it comes to OPSEC. as I would be as well, that’s why I wrote in Hebrew and before in PM’s etc etc…..
Oh and I am not mad for belive me it takes a lot more then this to get me mad, hell I hope you aren’t as well or at least not anymore ;)
Again some things or little details in your pics stood out that made me question a few things, and if you want I can PM you what they were (or like I said before, we can just drop this whole thing), but other then that, I never intended to publicly offend nor did I ever want you to publicly divulge any OPSEC info or show any OPSEC pics that you might have.
I fully understand and respect the OPSEC rules of the IDF and I myself try to adhere to them.

After that, you should be able to just drag-and-drop your files into the window (make sure you put it into the folder Hood told you, though).

Oh **** now i see the PMs .Dam i have alot.Sorry. What detail where you talking about that made you think that i'm a cook? :D Two things you need to understand DUDE ;)
First is that I didn’t think nor assume anything outright but rather had some questions based on some obvious details that stood out to me that made me sit back and question a few things and as such that is why I ASKED you and not told you or accused you of anything.
Secondly I never said nor implied that you were any cook (though are you? p-) J/K :D) , now my guess (and it was a pure guess again which I ASKED you) was that perhaps you were a נשק that “worked” mostly in the נשקיה
As for the details based on some of the aspects that I saw in your pics, well its too long to go over them now, but perhaps sometime this week I will go over some of them in a PM.
Anyways this should continue in PM's and not here in public in a international forum, I hope you can do that as well (and read your PM’s when they are sent ;) ).
On a separate note, like I have said to you before, I love your pics and I am looking forward to seeing more of them (as well as hopefully finally hearing your Tavor review ;) )
