No, I don't live in paris itself but in the greater suburbs. Like 32kms north of it.

My city is around 12.000 inhabitants, so is Marbach Am Neckar, we got every year germans visiting our city and they stay at home with our neighbors. I can't welcome them unfortunately, my appartment being too small. But they seems to enjoy their yearly trip in here.

Nantes is one of my fave french city. It has indeed a very nice university and many youngs, decent bars, pubs, clubs and so many other activities. No surprise you got some of them in Dusseldorf too. I recommend you try and be picked to go there someday if you're in uni yourself.
I'm not anymore in UNI. I'm somewhat of a voluntary dropout, started studying biology wasn't too happy being in the laboratories and honestly partied too hard and fell behind in some parts, then chose a complete different field (partly accidental) and ended up in advertising. (Job while studying -> Job-training -> Apprenticeship -> Job -> private school/evening studies)

A friend ended up studying in Nantes. He's FC Nantes fan now :lol: I even have a FC Nantes button, but that's another story.

He's a korean from Berlin who moved to Düsseldorf 10 years ago and was already fluent in french. Yeah he had a nice time there and i think he's still somewhere there. Just see him from time to time and a few weeks ago he was pretty drunken and tried to explain me the FC Nantes chants (He's also a Fortuna Düsseldorf supporter when he was here, every weekend in the stadium and all that). I think he just needed a replacement while he was there. I even saw one of his girls here. Unfortunately my french is less the rudimentary :| )

And yes he seems to love Nantes.

I visited only two American city in my life, NYC and Albany, jesus, I don't mean to be rude but Albany has to be the most pointless city in the state of NY. If you're into american politics ( particuary state, local politics ) there are some interesting newspaper put out by some of the uni and other organisations, but that's about it. Upstate NY for the most part is dismal and shouldn't be a consideration of travel for basically anybody.

Ok Toki. ;) don't worry about french, german is a second language here ( basic at least ) I completely agree, i hate Albany, i dont live right in the city i live about 20 minutes away in the country, but it really has no purpose... the only places i recommend you go to if you ever do come back to Upstate NY is Saratoga, which is a gorgeous community about 50-60 minutes north of Albany, and if you like the outdoors and hunting than i recommend you visit the Adrirondack mountains, some of the most beautiful and untouched scenery in the world lies in that area... but other than that, NYS sucks... but my family came here (im Dutch) when the Albany area (then Ft. Orange) actually had a purpose...

Yeah english replaces everything. That's why exchange students, au pairs or others are somtimes having a hard time learning german with their stay.

AFAIK they have alot of cultural (highschools/universities/cultural goods like museums, art, music, folklore) and business exchange (Investments/Tourism/special local Solutions). Basicly creating win win situations and make some worldwide friends.
