Hi all,
Its not much, but my wifes cousin just sent this one to me via email. Hes the top right. I didnt get all their permissions so I took the eyes out.
Hes in Sigs (doing radios and the PC's pretty much), went to Timor via one of our ships, ETA to get home, 6 months. They are having a good time and are generally safe. Getting nice money too I hear.. He has been itching for ages to go overseas and now hes there.

Cheers

I thought the Aussie's in ET werent getting combat pay, and their families were receiving the benefits they should when there partner is in active service. Has this situation changed...?

He didn't say they were getting 'combat pay'. According to the top brass ET was deemed "non-warlike".

Ah diggers. Always a prominent force in South East Asia. Good to see them all right in East Timor.

Thanks for the pic niklaos.
Just looking at their gear, it's amazing the differences between those deployed to ET and Iraq/A-stan.
Why the hell is it taking so long to get all that new "enhanced" kit ?

yeah sorry mate, i didnt say combat pay. just the usual living away from home/in the field pay
i could ask him for the specifics i guess?

Probably because we are spending so much on the airforce/navy :) j/k. I guess the Sigs corps in ET is alot less likley to get shot at than say the guys in Iraq/Afganistan

The diggers are not getting warlike allowances paid to them this time.

Just wanted to thankyou for posting the pic.
It is funny that I found it. Only a few days ago, I got back from long service leave and wondering why my mate wasn't answering his phone. I now know why. He is bottom right on the pic with the bald head. Now I know where the bugger is. Good excuse for not answering his phone.
Looking at the pic and reading a couple comments brings up a good point. The equipment. The webbing my mate has is not issue. I got him a set when he heading up north a couple years ago. Wasn't allowed to use it. Now, on deployment he can. Bit stupid if you ask me.
Just my two cents worth.
