Tyre, LEBANON: UNTSO staff members move an ill female comrade onto a waiting boat to be evacuated out of Lebanon by a Cypriot vessel in the southern Lebanese port city of Tyre 20 July 2006. The city has been among the worst hit by the Israeli offensive which enetered its nineth day. Many foreigners had to flee Lebanon by road to Syria or by sea to Cyprus after Israeli air strikes closed the Beirut International airport. At least 327 Lebanese civilians have been killed since the deadly violence began over the capture of two Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah. Judging by the TRFs, the fact that they are OR's and the fact that the UK doesn't have any troops with UNIFIL at the moment, I'd say that they're part of the British contingent from UNFICYP - and as such really should be monitoring the Green Line in Cyprus - good job it's quiet at the moment ;)

China and Taiwan split amid civil war in 1949, and Beijing remains committed to bringing the self-governing island back into its fold _ possibly in just the sort of Normandy-style beach-landing invasion that this year's Hankuang exercises simulated. This may sound like a school childs Remembrance Day-essay or something.. but imagine this:

I wish the landing craft were going the other way, full of thousands of people from every country in the world, and they dropped them all off in Lebanon.

Fill up the whole damn country with normal people. Hand in hand like the freakin' Whos from Whoville. Is Israel going to bomb targets then? Is Hezbollah going to shoot the rockets with civilians standing in front of the launchers?.

Same thing for Israel. Book your vacation instead of cancelling it. Go to Haifa and meet terrified Israeli's.

This 'whole world checking the hell out of the region' smacks of abandonment. This mentality 'Let's just let the kid scrap it out, boys will be boys' is unbelievable.

This is retarded. What century are we living in?

Note that they all have Zeiss Z-Points (Atleast thats what it looks like) instead of the "normal" Reflex-Sight ontop of their G36's.
Yes, that's the new G36A2. Only seen a few pics of it so far. Still had hoped for them to go for the EOTech...
The Z-Point seems to sit even higher above the bore axis than the original red-dot did. But at least it provides for more peripheral view.

Well said. I couldn't agree more.

Why waste money on developing new ones when you can let Uncle Sam do it and buy it off him?

Isn't that a foreign (French, I think) company that got the contract for American uniforms ? In that case, maybe they sell the same or very similar ones to Lebanon...

Very much in use.

The model 38 SMG posted yesterday, now that's old-skewl..

True, but I do consider almost 50 years quite old in terms of design. ;) Then again oldies are goldies, as can be seen in this picture taken in Tiberius, Israel a couple of months ago ;)
