i was actually just watching a video on youtube today about this magic trick with a match and for it to be magnets, what teh magician usually does is put his other arm below the one with the object where he has the magnet on his forarm. but this guy had his hand out in the air and the other one was just hovering above it.... im not really sure but somehow its done with magnets.

String attached to the doll, which travels up his sleeve and is attached to his other arm. As he moves his arm he pulls the string tight and it pulls the doll up. If you notice no one actually puts their hand between the doll and his sleeve, so it appears that nothing is attached to it.
