View Full Version : Re-Coloring my (faded) webbing

I bought a second-hand set of PLCE DPM webbing (British) today, and it is of course, faded. Now I have heard rumours that washing them with black socks, or anything dark can help bring the colouring back (atleast Soldier 95's are like that). Has anyone tried this?
Any other ideas? I'd just like to have a bit more colour in them if possible.

Thanks in advance! :)

They dont look that bad...If you dont want thenm send them to me!(jk)
Try scrubbing them with mild soap and a brissle brush to see how much is faded and how much is covered up by dirt...I did that to a resporator sack and it made a pretty fair difference..Not saying thats your case but its something..

Thanks for that advice! I hadn't thought about dirt. The webbing looks clean, but I'll check anyway.
Don't get me wrong, Im happy with this webbing, it was a bargain and the yoke looks new, alot of it isnt faded. My plan is to slowly upgrade it (bit by bit), then I'll have 2 pairs eventually and lots of spares.
Rather weirdly this set has 3 utility pouches and 1 double ammo pouch. (Normally 2 double ammo (L + R) and 2 Utility.

British PLCE generally fades, it looks like you have either fancy Arktis/ modified PLCE... Which could mean its been around a lot and you will never get the colour back. Tip generally, paint you Fastex buckles OG it means to you youre pouches dont "look" as faded and they dont look too riduculous. The used look is better anyway.

Thanks for that. Yeah, The faded look is starting to win me over... Although, if I start replacing bits (like I intend to) then its going to look terrible! 1 ammo pouch brand new, everything else used!

Scrub with a yard brush and running water.
The colour is much more likely to be covered in Grime than actually washed out. Alternatively respray the pouches with Sheep marking dyes. They dont wash out and are grease and everything else resistant.
